"You'll come get me ASAP?" I asked innocently stilling running and looking behind me
"Xavier?" he asked in astonishment
"Si fratello maggiore." I grinned as I turned into a side alley
"Where are you?"
"I don't know."
"Are you alright?"
"Cardinal just walked into Jennifer's apartment and shot her. I found out quite a lot of information. I just had a fight with him and I fled. He's after me Chrissy. Hold on let me get a land mark."
I walked out back to the side walk and looked around. I saw a sign.
"I'm just outside town by Diana's jewelry shop."
"Your personal customizer?"
"Si."
"Stay there. I'm sending a team."
"Si."
I hung up and receded into the shadows of the alley in case Cardinal sent his men looking for me. I felt warm liquid on my face near my temple and as I was about to wipe it off I heard footsteps.
Shit! He must have had look out men and thanks to my oh-so-smart-idea they saw me walk out to give Chrissy a land mark! Shit!
"Where is he?" I saw two men come into view looking all around in front the alley
"I swear I saw him run here." the other replied
There was a slight shuffle in the garbage can next door and a rat ran out into the darkness.
"Rat." one pulled out a gun "I hate then."
The next sound I heard was the firing of six stray bullets into the alley and the footsteps of the men walking away. I stood frozen as a shockwave of pain flooded through my body. I slowly looked down at my right arm where a bullet had pierced through my arm. Blood began to leak from the wound and I knew that if I stayed here any longer they would kill me. I stayed still for a while then crept out the shadows.
Sorry for not staying one place Chrissy. They could kill us both if you show up here to get me.
I cautiously walked out the alley and looked around. I saw the two men a little way down with Cardinal who was yelling at both of them in rapid and extremely angry Italian. I saw them turn and walk across the street into the waiting SUV before the car drove off.
That was close Xavier. You're lucky you aren't dead by the careless acts of a stupid man.
I walked out if the alley clutching my upper arm. I had to find a safe place and I ran off in the darkness. I kept running not knowing where I was going and not caring one bit.
Chrissy's POV
"Have you found anything?" I asked Geovanni as we searched Xavier's room for the millionth time.
"Nothing." he shrugged pulling off his gloves "Jennifer made sure she cleaned her tracks."
I shook my head.
"Where could he be?" I began to pace the room worriedly
I sent Neveah away from the mansion to stay with one of her friends in case the mansion was attacked.
"Don't stress too much Chrissy." Savannah spoke up "We'll find him. Now let's go get some sleep. It's half past three in the morning."
"Hot chocolate then bed." Jianan yawned
I nodded and opened Xavier's room door and yelled for one of the girls who was helping with the search in Jennifer's room. The corridor was crowded with men and girls looking for anything useful to find Xavier and Jennifer.
"Let's go." I turned back to the others and walked out into the hallway
Suddenly my phone rang. I looked at the ID.
"Jennifer?" I asked
"What?" Geo asked in shock "She's calling you?"
All eyes and ears on the corridor turned to me.
"I swear Jennifer that if you have my brother I'll-" I answered the phone
"You'll come get me ASAP?" a very familiar voice asked me innocently
No way!
"Xavier?" I asked and everyone gasped.
A sign of relief swept over us relieving a little stress.
"Si fratello maggiore." I knew he was grinning on the other end
"Where are you?" I asked a little desperately
"I don't know."
"Are you alright?"
"Cardinal just walked into Jennifer's apartment and shot her. I found out quite a lot of information. I just had a fight with him and I fled. He's after me Chrissy. Hold on let me get a land mark."
I looked at Geovanni.
"Track the phone call." I said to him and he nodded and immediately started to punch numbers on his phone
"I'm just outside town by Diana's jewelry shop." Xavier came back on the line
Diana? Di...Oh Diana!
"Your personal customizer?"
"Si."
"Stay there. I'm sending a team."
"Si."
I hung up.
"He's outside town by Diana's jewelry shop. Cardinal just walked in on him and shot Jennifer dead." I said to the men "Let's go get Xavier."
Before long we were driving in SUV's heading down to town. I let the men come with guns just in case Cardinal tried anything stupid.
"Your uncle is on my list of people whose necks I want to break." I said to Alessandro
"You have my permission." he grinned "I have a bone to suck with him too."
We arrived outside the jewelry store.
"Search the place." I got out giving orders "Don't kill Cardinal if you find him and find my brother. Fast!"
The men went off.
"Let's check the alleys." Jianan suggested "He'd keep a low profile if he was the center of attraction."
I nodded and went off to the nearest alley. I looked around. I was about to turn and go back when I caught sight of a bullet on the ground.
"Geovanni." I called him over
He left his position on the other side of the alley and came over.
"Bullet." I showed him
He bent down and picked it up.
"It's still hot." he looked up at me "Xavier was here."
My heart began to race.
Please tell me he's alright.
"I sent me up through the building." Jianan walked to us "Jennifer's dead body is inside as well as a bloody broken vase with Xavier's prints and Cardinal's blood."
"There are bullets here." Geovanni held up one "Let's get some flashlights."
