Chapter 23 Gang Leader's Title

She groaned before trying to sit up. Keyword, trying.
She lay back on the bed and felt a shift on her right. She turned her head, and blinked several times, not believing what she was seeing.
Keith was sleeping with his head on the bed.
Vale remembered about the guys not picking up her calls, and that she almost got kidnapped by Lance's gang.
'Shit! What am I going to do?'
'I got the gang leader's title in one night?!'
Vale remembers Lexy running to her and the gunshot after.
'Gosh! I hope she's okay.'
Her throat burned with thirst, but this guy is not waking up.
She raised her trembling hand to his shoulder.
"K-Keith?" she was annoyed as hell with her voice and her body.
'How did I get this weak?'
Keith groaned and lifted his head.
When he saw her, he quickly got up and hugged her.
Vale stiffened at the sudden move.
After a few seconds, he loosened his grip and sat on the bed next to her head.
His warm fingers caress her cheek, making her wanted to lean more into his touch.
"I almost lost you." he suddenly confessed.
Vale groaned.
Again?
"W-wat-er..." she stated in her ugly voice.
He immediately got up and grabbed a water from the table on the table beside the bed.
He came back and helped her to sit up before he put the glass corner on her mouth. She drank the water eagerly.
He put the glass back on the table and sat back beside her. Engulfing her in a hug making her heart beat faster.
She's alive.
As much as she hated him, she can't help but be pulled back into his arms.
It strangely felt safe.
"Why didn't you run?" he asked after several minutes of silence.
"I can't. There's too many of them."
'Damn! I hate lying!'
She recalled the night and saw that she indeed could run.
But, being the fool she is, she thought she can overpower them.
In the end, the two strangers successfully lured her into the dark alley.
She mentally laughs at this.
"What are you thinking about?" he asked.
Vale sighed, "I was just thinking of how stupid I am."
"Why would you think like that?"
"You know, since no one is picking up my call-" he cut her off.
"I'm so sorry." he kissed her temple.
'What's wrong with him?'
"Let me finish first." she glared at him, more like trying to glare.
"Since no one is picking up my call, two guys came to me. They were planning something. They kept trying to touch me, and I wanted to pull out my gun, but there's a surveillance camera there. So, I back away till I reach a dark alley."
"I met the boss. But, I don't know which gang are they. It was dark. They're twelve of them. I didn't see any cars and was curious as to what they were doing. I'm scared that they might found out about me and I wanted to escape, but one of them is holding my arms on my back."
"The leader slapped, kicked and punched me." she shivered, recalling the scene.
Keith's holds tightened around her.
"Then, he cut my skin crazily. He told the guy that was holding me to bring me to the car, and I refused and brought my legs up and kick him on the face before head butting the man behind me."
"I took that chance to pull out my gun and head locked the man that had my arm locked. I...I shot everywhere. I don't even know who I shoot as I retreat. That's when I heard a car screech, and I fainted at the same time I saw Lexy running towards me. That's the only thing that I remember before everything went black."
Vale finished her story. Biting her cheeks when she made several lies and deliberately hid some parts of the story.
She wanted to cry out in frustration because the guilt is eating her alive.
"I'm so sorry, princess."
