Chapter 50

She heaved, feeling anxious. What was she going to do now that Draco wasn't here? Marcus was a very powerful rogue and she even heard he used some potions of some kind. She had no chance against him. She only hoped she would be able to get away from the city before he finds her.
"That's the rogue, wasn't it?" her father asked, trying to keep up behind her.
"Yes," she breathed. "I have no idea what happened. But right now, let's just focus on getting as far away from him as possible."
Just then, she could see the police coming up from the front. She ran to them with haste, glad to see someone coming to save them.
"What happened?" the police asked.
"Someone's inside," she answered. "He tried to get in from the back."
"Is he armed?"
"No, but—"
"Don't worry about it, ma'am. We'll protect you."
"Thank you. Please, be careful. He's very dangerous."
"Relax, ma'am. You're safe now," the other policeman said.
"Thank you."
They proceeded to enter the main door and stayed in guard for any stranger. A few minutes passed by and they were still inside searching. Anastasia calmed down a little. Marcus must've ran away, without the intention of revealing the truth to humans. She knew she had the upper hand this time. The reality of the other world must stay hidden no matter what. And if Marcus was a fan of human's unawareness of his world, he'd respect the tradition.
A sudden sound erupted from inside the house, pulling out Isabelle's fear again. All the policemen ran outside. They all looked horrified. From behind them, a familiar tall guy walked out grabbing a policeman by his neck. Marcus threw all the broken guns on the ground and all the men ran out behind him, weakened and obviously hurt from his sudden outburst.
Anastasia could feel this was finally her ending. She was afraid her father would be in danger and they wouldn't be together ever again. There's no way to escape. This might just be her dead end.
"If you all want to die, fight me," Marcus demanded, his loud voice echoing all over the place.
All the men looked at him, fear painted on their faces and creeping through their bones. Marcus threw the man on the ground and broke his gun with one hand. Not wasting any time, Anastasia grabbed her father's hand and ran behind a car, hiding from Marcus' sight.
"I'm sorry, papa," she cried.
Her father wiped away her tears with gentleness. "For what?"
"For bringing him here. He was supposed to be locked up. He's not supposed to be here. I should've stayed with Draco. This is all my fault."
"No, it's not, child."
"It is. I left Draco when he was exactly the only one who could protect me. I'm so stupid! I should've stayed. Marcus must've thought I'm such a fool. Everyone would say so. I played right into his hands and he got me right where he wanted." She dove her head to her hands in regret, trying hard to not let more tears fall.
"It's not your fault, Anastasia," her father said gently. He tricked you and you are not accountable for that. This rogue has to be stopped no matter what." How could he stay gentle and calm after everything that's happening right now? He really knew how to act in times of danger, but she wasn't sure she'd see his face again after this.
"Papa," she sighed. "I have no other choice. I have to let him take me. Or you and all the other people here will be in danger."
"No, Ana. I can't lose you again."
"You won't. If everything goes as planned, please ask for Alpha Draco's help. He'll know what to do."
"Ana!" Out of her surprise, her father was suddenly taken by his shirt. Marcus stood tall before them, her father hanging by his clothes above the ground. "Give up, Luna."
"Don't hurt him!" she snarled. She felt so weak, not having the strength to do anything and save him.
"So what will it be, you or your father?"
"Please, don't do this, Marcus. I know you're not like this. You're just a victim of the past. You're not as bad as you thought and this.. This will not justify everything!"
He laughed evilly, and the sound scared her to the bones. "I like it when you beg. So helpless. So weak. How would it feel for you to watch your father die before your eyes? Just like what Alpha Shawn did to my father? Would it satisfy me? Yes. Yes, it will. So, so much."
Her tears had fallen down her face but she wasn't about to give up yet.
"Not long ago, you were glaring at my face with those pretty blue eyes," he continued. "But now look at you, begging on your knees, crying for your father."
"Just let him go and I'll come with you willingly."
"Is that your final choice?" he asked, looking at her for permission. His eyes asked his main question without words. Did she want her father to die in front of her or was she willing to go with him without any trouble?
She stood up and stepped forward with courage. "Yes."
"Good."
