Chapter 47
1116words
Without knowing, Anastasia felt tears swiftly rolling down her eyes. "I have to go home. I miss my father and I'm just tired of everything. I just need a break."
"You're leaving me," he repeated.
"I'm not leaving. I'm just.. spending some time away from here." She frowned, doesn't that mean the same thing?
Facepalm.
"Please, stay," he begged, his deep voice breaking.
"I can't."
"What am I going to do without you? You're my Luna. I'm no king without a queen."
"We haven't mated yet. Besides, I'm not a werewolf too. I'm still a human and I'm not fit to be a Luna. I don't deserve the title."
"You deserve everything."
"No, I dont and I'm not perfect. You know that for sure. I love you, you know that. But I just need a break from everything."
He looked down, his face red dened. "Will you come back?"
"Only time will tell," she whispered before kissing him deeply.
"No, I won't let you go." He walked away all of a sudden, slamming his hand on the hard table. It cracked with the strength he possessed.
"Draco, please understand. I'm just confused and I don't understand everything right now."
"Then I'll make you understand. I'll be patient."
She chuckled. "You're too sweet. But it doesn't work like that. I need to get through this on my own, without you this time."
"You'll forget me soon, and you'll find someone else."
"That's not true, you'll always be my Alpha. All my life, I've always worked hard and worried about others. I wanted to feed my father and make him better. But now, it's time I choose to myself."
His hands clenched, as he sat at the seat in front of his desk. "When do you plan to leave?"
"Tonight, I can't watch someone die tomorrow. I just can't."
"I'll respect your wishes," he sighed in defeat. "But you have to know, once you leave, there's no going back. I'll send your father here. You can both live here and become one of us. You can find yourself here."
"Oh, Draco," she sighed, her heart breaking in two. "If makes me happy to hear you say that. But it's not what I had in mind."
"I can't believe I'll ever get my heart broken again after so many years. You broke my heart, little mate." He took a deep breath. "Go pack your things. I don't wanna watch you leave." Then he returned back to his seat without any other word, his face emotionless once again.
She wiped her tears away with her fingers and sniffed. "Thank you, Alpha Draco."
"Don't be. This is only because I love you and I can't bear to lose you. I want you to know.. I'll always be here if you ever wish to come back. Just waiting."
She had no words. She loved him so much. Leaving him would be very hard. Knowing he was willing to let her go even when she knew he was a very possessive man, it was so brave. He mastered the art of not showing any emotion even when he was at the edge of his feelings. Even when it hurt him the most.
"I love you," were the only words she could say back before leaving the room.
The celebration that night was partly happy and sad. Alpha Draco stayed in his office and didn't come out. Everyone knew she was finally going home. And they were all sad to know about it. She spoke her goodbyes and Edward helped her get her things, preparing them in the truck. This time she was leaving without Draco and it hurt her feelings, knowing the way things ended.
His words rounded back to her head.
If you leave this place, there's no going back.
What if that was true? What if she could never have the courage to come back and be with him again? With the way he looked at her, she knew how much she hurt him. Some time soon, she might not ever be with him again and he would get tired of waiting for her.
Nevertheless, she had to be brave. For now, she was just glad to meet her father again. She missed him very much.
The ride home was silent, only filled with chill music and sad songs. Even with the gloom she felt, she was still excited to come back home. Her father would be there, waiting for her for sure. She hadn't told him yet about this. She bet he would cry once he sees her, and she would be more than glad to be with him once again.
Perhaps it was only right that she and Draco didn't have a good communication. It would be better to end things this way. She was going to move on and he was going to meet a new girl, have a new Luna, and have ugly kids. She didn't want to end it this way but she had to. Would he ever forgive her for leaving? Would he even accept her back?
"Are you excited, Luna?" Edward asked beside her.
"So much. And don't call me that, I'm not your Luna anymore."
"You'll always be our Luna. Even if you're far away, you'll always have a place in our hearts. Especially mine."
"That's so sweet," she murmured, small tears begging to leak out of her eyes. "Thank you."
"It'll be alright," he said, noticing she was having trouble thinking positively.
She glanced at him sideways with a sly smile. "I hope so."
The whole ride was long and boring. Eventually, she fell asleep. It became daek soon enough and when Anastasia woke up, she caught the glimpse of the familiar city she had grown up in. Everything looked so different yet so nostalgic and similar. She was finally home.
They reached their subdivision and found the old house she used to live in. There was a gloomy aura that surrounded the whole place, as if it had been missing her all this time. As soon as the truck stopped, she opened her side of the car and rushed to the front doors of the small house.
The doorbell rang three times until someone finally decided to open it. When the doors opened, a familiar face welcomed her with a sad smile, his eyes tainted with tears of joy and sadness.
"My dear Anastasia," he said weakly. "I missed you."
