Draco followed right behind me and laughed when he saw her burnt cupcakes. With a glare, Anastasia tried to throw one at him and he dodged it quickly. She was surprised with how quick he dodged it, as if he knew.
"Look what you've done," she sighed, looking down at them cupcakes with a sad face. She had officially ruined her first batch. This was a mess.
"What are you so upset about?" he asked nonchalantly. "You can always make another."
"I don't like wasting time and effort," she told him as she proceeded to start putting a new set of cupcakes in the oven. He rounded the table and walked towards her. As he got closer, he looked down at her with his burning eyes and tucked her hair behind her ear with his left hand.
"Time spent with you isn't a waste of time."
She glanced up at him, feeling so giddy all of a sudden. Just then, she remembered what just happened earlier between them. She wasn't even sure if she would ever forget it. But then the illusion faded when he smirked.
"I had fun," he teased and she almost facepalmed herself. Did they really just do that earlier? She was so embarrassed that she couldn't think of what to say. Just then, Amanda came in with a surprised look on her face. Anastasia quickly composed herself and moved far away from the Alpha.
A smile came up on Amanda's face. "You two are getting along wonderfully."
Anastasia could almost feel her cheeks heating up.
"We'll be preparing dinner shortly, Alpha Bourne."
The Alpha looked back at Amanda and nodded. "Good."
Then he glanced down at her and she felt it, his lips softly brushing against her forehead, silently telling her that he cared for her. And then, just like that, he left without another word.
Amanda and she proceeded to prepare the rest of the tasks at hand. The maids came to greet her and they helped in preparing the food in the big dining room of the mansion. After an hour, she saw men coming in half-naked, all dripping in sweat.
"Why's everyone all sweaty?" Anastasia asked skeptically. Edward looked at her with a grin. "We often practice fighting with each other, no rules at all."
No rules? she thought to herself As in anyone could kill anyone?
"You should watch some time, Luna," another guy spoke with a wink.
"Watch it," a deep voice rumbled behind them.
He turned his head and came face to face with the Alpha. "Alpha Bourne," he greeted, bowing down his head a little.
"Clean up then we'll have dinner," the Alpha ordered and the guy nodded his head in obedience. Everybody really ate at the same time here, Anastasia thought. It was like they had a deep connection with each other.
Perhaps it was kind of like brotherhood, a whole family.
Nodding their heads, the sweaty guys walked out of the room, leaving only her and Draco behind. She noticed the maids were leaving, too. Anastasia gazed at Draco with a wary eye. Not to mention he was half-naked. He grabbed a towel that's prepared on the table and wiped it around his face and neck.
Her eyes couldn't help but wander down his chest. Those defined muscles and big arms. She wondered what it was like to.. have them.. around her. She was completely out of her mind for a moment until she heard his deep chuckle.
"Eyes on me, baby doll."
Embarrassed, she gulped and looked up at him. He moved forward, looking down at her with soft eyes. "I missed you."
This guy.. They had only been a few hours apart not seeing each other and he said he missed her? Oh, he should really stop flattering her. With a sly smile, she took a small step forward and put her finger on his chest, slowly sliding it downward, teasing him.
She could see his eyes dilating as his deep black eyes stared down at her intently. "And I," she whispered, "hate you."
That intense look on his face quickly faded and a grin came up. "I can live with that."
"Oh no, Alpha Bourne, I'll make sure to make your life a living hell."
"Do your worst."
She rolled her eyes at him. Oh, he better be ready because she would try hre best to annoy him until he wouldn't want her around anymore. Shortly after a minute, everyone came in all dressed up and fresh. As everyone began to eat, she couldn't wait to let them have dessert.
Anastasia felt a hand on her back. Surprised, she turned to see the Alpha. "You look happy," he remarked.
"Do I?" She didn't know why but having the chance to do something she wanted, it made her feel better. Baking reminded her of her mother. She made the best cupcakes. She'd give anything to go back in time and tell her how much she loved her.
If only it was that simple.
The Alpha leaned forward, pulling her out of her thoughts, and whispered in her ear, "Seeing you this happy makes you look even more beautiful."
And with that, he started to eat.
That night, she prepared herself to sleep while he showered. This time, she took her time looking around his room and found so little valuable things. It w like he's not really into anything fancy.
He was just a very simple man. Simple yet hard to understand, she thought. Anastasia leaned back on the pillows as she turned on the big TV screen and continued to change channels. A few moments later, she felt herself getting sleepy.
Eyes half closed, she could see him coming fresh out of the bathroom, wearing nothing but boxer shorts. She sat frozen as he dried his hair with a towel, his muscles flexing.
"You can touch them if you want," he commented.
Anastasia answered him with a glare. "Shut up."
With a chuckle, Draco closed the lights as he lay down on the couch. "I know you miss your family," he said suddenly.
"How do you know?"
"I can see your sadness in your eyes. But I have no choice. You're in danger and this is the only way to protect you."
"I'm not in danger," she protested.
"Just rest, baby doll. I know you're tired."
Rolling her eyes, Anastasia pulled the sheets up her chin and slowly felt herself falling into a deep slumber.
The next morning, the breakfast Amanda prepared was so delicious. The Alpha brought her again into his office as he continued to work on whatever it was he was doing. Boredom consumed her until she remembered what Edward told her last time.
She walked up to Draco who was sitting behind his desk, deeply focused.
"Um, Alpha Draco," she called politely. He seemed surprised as he looked up at her with one eyebrow raised. "Edward told me he would tour me around the mansion. Can we do that today?"
"No."
"I've been here all day and I have nothing else to do but read these books that have no pictures or I can just stare at the walls all day long. Let me go out and look around this place. Please?" Anastasia pursed out her lower lip and showed her puppy eyes.
This just might be her chance to find a way to escape somehow. Even if it's impossible, she could try.
He sighed. "Fine."
A few minutes later, someone started knocking on the door.
Edward came in and looked at her. "Ready, Luna?"
"Yeah," she replied. Right before she could head out of the door, Draco stopped me when she heard his deep voice. "You're not planning to run away, are you?"
"Um, no." she answered warily.
"Because if you do run away," he continued, "and I caught you, I'll do things.. things that will make you scream.. and I won't stop until you beg me to stop. Do you understand?"
Anastasia had a feeling he was talking about something else. Remembering what happened last time, she gulped and nodded her head in obedience.
"Good girl."
