The room was more than huge for everyone. Being a runway model was Anna's line of work, but she couldn't remember the last time she actually did a catwalk show. The last thing she remembers doing is a red carpet event which is obviously not enough and a photoshoot.
"Come Miss Sui." Five people rushed to her side as they led her to a chair. They started loosening her hair preparing her for the catwalk event.
"So beautiful isn't she?" The man standing next to Anna said as he packed his dreadlocks. He was dark in complexion with a striking image that made her stare at him twice. "Your performance out there was splendid Miss Sui, but let's see how good you are on the runway." He said.
To Anna, he is the definition of CUNT.
"I'm Ashley by the way." He said. Do men answer Ashley? Anna thought to herself and didn't bother saying a word to him. She did not want to offend anyone with her questions.
"You know, Mrs. Lacey loves her models bold and fierce." He made an expression that made him seem like a tiger at the same time a cute and scary one and she smiled.
"Are you sure you can keep up with that aura?" He asked staring at her. He was looking down on her, everyone does. They think because she looks so innocent she doesn't have the charisma enough.
She understood him. Her upcoming years in the runways were always like this. People looked down on her a lot, but here she is.
"I'll try my best." The hairstylist added different flower pins to her hair which didn't look bad at all. After she was done, the makeup artist took over adding colors to her face. Once she was done, Anna stared at her reflection and was amazed by the sudden look.
She looked like a high school baddie but a more improvised one. Like a good girl gone bad but not in a bad way because she's still as pure as always.
"What is the concept of these lines?" Anna finally asked. She should have asked the moment they took her away.
"Heavenly baddies," Ashley said as he stared at himself in the mirror.
"You're the last act for tonight and I'm your assistant for tonight and tomorrow's task. I'm to make sure you wake up early and prepare for your task." Ashley said.
No wonder he asked all of those questions. She has been looking for an assistant for so long, that retaining Ashley wouldn't be a bad idea. Besides, Lola will finally focus on her managing work.
Anna felt like her manager had been working overtime and deserved a break at least once.
"Alright, let's try your first dress on you, Miss Sui." The girl behind her said and she walked over to a small sector reserved for her to change. The room was so small having only curtains demarcating her from the everyone else.
She picked the black mini dress with little crystals embedded on it. It was beautiful. Anna started changing her dress and after that, she wore the black net panty hose with tiny crystals attached to it. Lacey needed a bad ass, at the same time, she needed a glittering badass. Someone that could capture the audience, since Anna had answered the questions beautifully, she had chosen Anna as the main girl for tonight's catwalk.
"Are you done miss Sui, it's almost time." The woman who had led her in here called and Anna quickly wore her dress and knee high leather boots. She was yet to zip the dress or the boots, but it's a good thing Ashley was there to help her with it.
As Anna stood there, she realized she has forgotten a whole lot about modelling. She was no idea if she's to walk in from the right or the left. It's a common knowledge every model should have else they are not considered as models.
She tried searching for her phone at least to browse about it but it was far from her reach. She hadn't taken it when she got here. Lola had suggested to hold it while she performed and then when she's done, she would give it back to her, but she hadn't seen Lola after her performance either.
Maybe she should rush back to her room to get it. She would run and no one would notice she left in the first place. She nodded and started walking hurriedly outside the dressing room. Anna had walked through Nari and Ava's dressing section and both girls had their eyes on her.
A deep frown marred their faces as they stared at Anna with utmost hate. Anna is no doubts beautiful so it makes a lot of less beautiful girls jealous of her, even if they are all beautiful themselves.
They hated that she isn't as jealous as them and always minds her business. The hated that she acted as if she's the best and they're all below her.
"I heard this bitch won the competition?" Nari asked Ava.
Anna has been too busy preparing that she hadn't noticed both girls doing their make-up together. She didn't care at all, all she thought about was Ashley who entertained her and the man she had seen among the crowd today. Somewhere at the back of her mind, she wanted it to be an illusion, and somewhere too, she wanted it to be real.
Ava stood from where she sat and quickly walked up to Anna. "Are you alright Anna." She asked worriedly and Anna nodded. Now she thought of it, it's stupid to go back to her room to get answers when she can easily ask Ava. The girl has been nothing but kind to her since she got here.
