Chapter 15: Destiny Fulfilled

"Nervous?" Claire Johnson helped me adjust my wedding dress, her eyes filled with blessings.
Over the past year, we've transformed from business allies into true friends. She gave up her engagement with Alexander Morgan, and is now dating Michael Davis. The two of them look very compatible together.
"A little," I admitted, "but mostly happiness."
The wedding march began to play, and I walked slowly toward the lakeside altar, arm in arm with Mr. Jiang. Alexander Morgan stood there, gazing at me with such focused attention, his eyes filled with a tenderness I had never seen in anyone else's eyes before.
"You look beautiful today." He said softly when I walked up to him.
"So do you." I smiled back, my heart racing.
The wedding was simple and warm. We exchanged vows and rings, becoming partners in the presence of family and friends. When the minister declared us officially married, Alexander Morgan gently kissed my lips as applause and cheers from the guests echoed around the lakeside.
"I have a gift for you." At the reception, Alexander Morgan said mysteriously.
He led me to an open space by the lake and unveiled the red cloth covering a model—it was a miniature model of a modern building, labeled "Wilson Research Institute."
"This is..." I looked at the model in surprise.
"Your father's greatest dream before he passed away, wasn't it?" Alexander Morgan smiled, "To establish a research center focused on environmental technology. We've already purchased the land, and construction will begin next year."
I was so moved that I couldn't speak, I could only hold him tightly. This man always knew how to express his love in the most special way.
"There's one more thing." Alexander Morgan took out a letter from his pocket, "This was found while sorting through my father's belongings. It's addressed to you."
I took the letter with confusion, opened it and saw a line of familiar handwriting: "If you are reading this letter, it means the wheel of fate has turned. Emily Wilson, forgive my cowardice, but please believe that I have always been protecting you from the shadows. —Morgan Sr."
"What does this mean?" I asked, puzzled.
Alexander Morgan took a deep breath: "I've discovered more truth. Although my father couldn't save your father, he secretly looked after you all along. Your college scholarship, recommendation for your first job, even your apartment landlord, they were all connected to my father."
I stared at him in shock: "So... even in my previous life, my life was always influenced by your family?"
"Yes." Alexander Morgan nodded, "And I took over this responsibility after my father passed away. I've been watching over you from a distance, but didn't know how to approach you."
"So those photos..." I recalled the album I found in the villa.
"I collected them." He admitted, "I know this sounds a bit strange, but I just couldn't help myself from keeping track of you."
I finally understand why I met Alexander Morgan after being reborn, why I had that inexplicable sense of familiarity. It turns out in my previous life, our fates had already been intertwined, I just didn't know it.
"So none of this was coincidence." I said softly.
"But our love is real." Alexander Morgan said firmly, "Whether in past lives or the present one, whether there was rebirth or not, I would have fallen in love with you."
After the wedding banquet, we stood by the lake, watching the countless stars reflected in the calm water.
"Do you regret coming back through rebirth?" Alexander Morgan suddenly asked.
"Never." I leaned on his shoulder, "If I hadn't been reborn, I wouldn't have gotten to know the real you, wouldn't have discovered the truth, and wouldn't have today's happiness."
"Then," he smiled, "what will our future be like?"
"I don't know," I answered honestly, "my 'foresight ability' only works for the past. The future needs to be created by us together."
"Sounds fair." Alexander Morgan chuckled, "But I have a feeling."
"What feeling?"
"We will be very happy, extremely happy." he said earnestly.
I stood on tiptoe and kissed his lips: "I believe in your intuition."
In the moonlight, our silhouettes merged into one, casting long reflections on the lake surface. The journey of rebirth has ended, but our story has just begun. Whatever awaits us ahead, we will walk hand in hand and face it together.
