I was floored—and almost impressed by his performance.

Especially seeing my parents completely taken in, offering him heartfelt advice.


After a moment's hesitation, I floated into the room like a ghost.

"Mom, Dad, I'm home."

Minutes later, I had Jack cornered in the kitchen.


"I'm sorry, sis! Forgive me?

I just wanted to get on your parents' good side, that's all."


I glared at him silently, about to speak when my father walked in.

"Jack, perfect timing! Come fishing with me!

Let's catch some fresh seafood for Sophia."

Jack's eyes lit up. He turned to me with a pleading look.

"Sis?"

I nodded numbly, my head spinning.

How had my life turned upside down so quickly?

The man was an incredible actor with a silver tongue to match.

Just then,

"Uncle, Auntie, I'm here."

I stared at Joel Sinclair, who looked like he'd been dragged through a swamp and barely rescued. I was speechless.

Had I stepped into an alternate reality? Was the world ending?
