Chapter 8

Under my roommates' relentless teasing, I typed with trembling fingers:

[Alphas, I apologize. I need to explain something]

Kael: [Go ahead]

Asher: [I'm listening]

I took a deep breath:

[Those challenge letters were fake. I just wanted your training spots]
[I'm so incredibly sorry!]

I hit send, threw my phone at Luna, and dove under my covers.

Too terrified to witness their reactions.

After about a minute, Luna said, "Uh, they don't believe you."

I poked my head out: "What?"

Luna showed me the screen.

Kael: [No way. You clearly said you've wanted to challenge me since the Alliance meeting]
Kael: [Your eyes were dead serious. Like you wanted to tear me apart]

Asher: [I don't believe it either]
Asher: [So many Alphas in that hall. Why did you single me out?]

Me: "..."

These two Alphas. Completely delusional.

Luna rolled on her bed laughing: "HAHAHA Elara, you've got two of the hottest Alphas fighting over you!"

Me, fighting back tears of panic.

I frantically typed: [It's genuinely a misunderstanding! Look at this screenshot from the forum!]

I sent the screenshot. The chat went silent.

I waited ten minutes. No response.

I checked again—

Both Alphas had left the group chat.

Me: ...

Did I just make everything worse?
