I open my eyes and see that Charlotte is nowhere to be found.
She's been disappearing a lot lately.
As I'm getting out of bed, careful to avoid my broken arm and ribs, Charlotte comes into the room and her eyes widen.
"What are you doing? Lay back down" she says as she walks towards me and sets the donut box on the bed
I look at her then point to the donut box as I raise my eyebrow as If silently asking her what it's for.
"I bought it for you" she says nonchalantly as she rearranges the pillows and carefully lays me against them
"Water" I gasp out as I put my hand over my rib
"Yeah, of course" she says before she runs out of the room and down the stairs
I fight through the excruciating pain as I lean forward to grab the donut box that's calling my name.
Just a little further.
The tips of my fingers brush against the edge of the box before Charlotte rushes in.
"Seriously, Aspen?!" She asks with a tone of disbelief as she shakes her head. I give her a innocent smile as I shrug my shoulder.
"Here" she says as she hands me a glass of water along with two tablets of ibuprofen
I throw the pills into my mouth before I chug the water.
She smiles at me before sliding the box of donuts onto my lap.
My mouth waters at the heavenly aroma that the donuts release when I open the box. I thank Charlotte before I start devouring the donuts.
