Chapter 209 COMING ACROSS
1666words
Her fear has to go, the fear from me, the fear of facing Ann. She has to be strong and face everything that awaits in our future. I am with her this time. I know I have disappointed her but this time I won't. She has to trust me, she has to.
Last night, I had hoped that she would open up herself and tell me her fear but no, she lied.
She lied to me and I can tell this because I have seen her eyes. They were not genuine at all. They showed guilt, hesitation, and fear.
Here, she is acting weirdly and on the other hand, Ann has also turned weird. She has been avoiding me since our last argument.
I waited for her at the dinner but she never showed up.
I have to ask her to change Aaron's place and if she will keep avoiding me how am I supposed to talk about it.
Also, isn't she excited to see Cyrus at all?
Her lack of disinterest in Cyrus is making me worried.
I get ready hurriedly, nervous and excited. I call Miss Martha asking her to bring Aaron to the breakfast table and as I had informed Tessa about it already. I hope she will also show up on time at the breakfast table.
DING
I take a deep long breath, ok Andrew, It's showtime.
Bracing myself, I enter the elevator straight to the ground floor and at the breakfast table. I am the first person to arrive and then wait patiently for everyone to join me.
Aaron comes second with Miss Martha, I greet Aaron and then put him on his seat. Then I start to wait for Tessa and Cyrus, come on, it's your turn to show up now, Tessa.
My eyes desperately keep looking for them and when the elevator door opens my heart skips a beat when Ann comes out of it instead of Tessa and Cyrus.
Marvelous...
Can't this woman obey me for one time?
Where my obedient Tessa has gone?
I sigh disheartenedly.
"Good Morning, Ann." I greet Ann and she greeted me back with a smile, and then lean down to kiss Aaron's forehead lovingly.
I wish Cyrus would also be able to take Ann's love like this.
We all three sit together just like old time and I am damn sure that Tessa isn't going to show up, at last, her fear has won and we all then begin to eat our breakfast silently.
DING
Just then the elevator door opens and Tessa and Cyrus walk out of it making me pleasantly surprised.
I stand up from my place and excitedly walk towards them, I pick Cyrus up in my arms and take him to Ann to introduce him to her.
"Ann, look who's here?" I ask her excitedly and she turns her head to me.
"Axel is back." His appearance elated her, Thankfully, when Cyrus suddenly open his mouth and corrects her, "I am not Axel, My name is Cyrus."
I look at Cyrus completely stunned and then at Ann, I thought she would mind his words but unexpectedly Ann laughs at his words. "He is clever." She pats his head and I let out a sigh of relief.
This isn't that hard, see.
I know Ann will not start an argument in front of the kids. She adores both of my sons.
"Aaron, have you met your older brother?" Ann turns to Aaron and he nods his head politely in response, "Yes, we have met. I have even shared my toys with Cyrus. Sharing is caring." He says in a rhyme and Ann smile in adoration.
"Very Good Boy." and then she turns to Cyrus, "You also have to be as sharp as Aaron. I think he should also start homeschooling or perhaps we should ask for his admission. In a few days, he would turn 4." Ann looks at me for the suggestion and I nod my head in approval. "Yeah, that would be fine."
When Cyrus again speaks out, "I am already 4 years old."
At which I and Ann chuckle together.
"I celebrated my birthday on Christmas day with Santa." He reveals and at that point, I realize that he isn't uttering nonsense but the truth.
How would Tessa know the real birthdate of Cyrus, she wasn't even in her consciousness when she gave birth to him.
"We have eggs, toast, jam. What Cyrus would like to eat first?" I ask Cyrus distracting him from everything. The more he talks the more trouble he is going to create for me and Tessa.
I put him on the seat opposite Aaron that is on the left of Ann. Ann happily starts filling a plate for Cyrus while Tessa remains frozen at her place.
Oh, Come on.
Everything has gone so well, Tessa, Kindly don't create any trouble.
I pray silently and then gesture for Tessa to walk over and join us. She shakes her head taking a step back and I sigh in distress.
F**k
I take a big step and hold her before she is able to escape.
"Mommy, please sit with me." Aaron requests and I smile at him. "Sure, mommy will."
I pull her forcedly towards Aaron when Ann's sharp voice sounded in the air.
"I haven't given permission to that woman to sit at the same table with me."
BOOM
Oh, F**k, here starts Ann's sarcasm.
"Neither I am dying to share this table with you," Tessa answered back and I look at her with wide eyes, she has finally got a tongue. She breaks my grip from her hand and storms towards the elevator while Ann's face sulks and a muscle on her face twitch in agitation.
"STOP"
I growl and everyone looks at me in unison. I turn and bring Tessa back to the table, she was desperate to leave but the fury in my eyes made her surrender immediately. "No one is leaving. Everyone will eat together." I pull out the chair beside Aaron and gesture for Tessa to sit, she did obey my command, Thankfully and I take my place beside Cyrus.
Ann's gaze keeps following me, she looks shocked and offended by my decision.
"Please, eat, Ann," I tell her softly while she throws a dagger at Tessa. I could see the hatred rising in her eyes for Tessa.
Oh, Lord.
She silently leaves the table without even touching her breakfast and I look at her back in disappointment. Please, Ann, show some maturity here.
"Let's eat," I announce and then start to eat while feeding Cyrus from time to time. Tessa also does the same as she feeds Aaron from time to time but her face looks dull and tense after encountering Ann.
After breakfast, I leave the three alone and head to Ann's floor. She isn't in her room so I head for her study.
KNOCK ... KNOCK ...
I enter Ann's study and her mood is still gloomy. "Ann." I begin to explain when she snaps furiously, "How dare you... How dare you disobey me, Andrew, and that also in front of that low-status woman."
"She is the mother of my children," I tell Ann with a firm face and she sneers in disdain.
"I don't care if she has given birth to Aaron and Cyrus. I won't allow her to stay here. She could never be able to take my place." Ann says displeasingly and I frown at her words.
"No one is taking no one's place, Ann. Aaron isn't well, he needs his mother, at least for him let her stay here for a while. She will leave after Aaron's treatment." I assure her and after the mention of Aaron's name, finally Ann let out a breath and look at me in consideration.
"I won't let her take away my child this time." Ann states and I nod my head in agreement.
"She won't, don't worry."
"Fine, then. When are you going to take Cyrus for the check-up?" Ann asks.
"After a few days, Aaron's doctor isn't in the town at the moment," I inform her and her brow furrows in displeasure. "I don't like him at all. It's just he is the best in this field otherwise I would have changed him the first time he dare to talk back with me."
"I know, Ann," I tell her in understanding.
"I will tell Miss Martha to introduce Cyrus to Sir Martin, after all, he has to get familiar with people here. So that, when Tessa leaves he won't create trouble for us." Ann says and my scalp starts to prickle. I am not sure if this future is going to really happen. but, now is not the time to ponder on that. There is a long time for Tessa to leave from here, from my and Aaron's life.
"Whatever you feel is good for him. After all, you are his only aunt." I tell Ann with a sweet smile and she flinches a little at the mention of Aunt, I know she wanted to be their mother but when Tessa is here how could I let her take Tessa's place like this?
"Should I ask Miss Celine to bring your breakfast here?" I ask Ann politely, she hasn't touched her food at the breakfast table.
"No need, I'll eat something at the office. Are you going to come with me?" She asks, rising from her seat all ready to leave for her office.
"Oh, No... I have some emails to check. You go ahead, I'll join you for the lunch." I quickly make an excuse remembering Tessa's words from last night. She is going for an interview and I need to keep an eye on her, in which company she is going to give an interview, and actually, I am quite surprised how in one day she is able to find a place here in Denver for work?
Isn't it strange?
