"Ahhh…"
The woman's heart wrenching cries caught my attention instantly, "Jethro." I hold his arm anxiously at him.
"It's ok, Andrew." He pats my hand and then pulls his arm out of my grip, and then very calmly he sits on the sofa that is not like a person he was in the school.
He was a kind person.
Hurting a person was a far far away though he would never hurt even an ant and today that woman's heart wrenching cries are doing nothing to him.
Has he turned into a stone, now?
The Jethro I knew from my school days was someone who always hated violence the most and always fought against the people who did it. Even if that means fighting against his father.
His father is the leader of Russian Mafia and Jethro had always hated him for being a bad and violent man although he has always raised Jethro with love but when Jethro starts to know about his real business and also when he got kidnapped by one of his rival only the he realized how many innocent lives his father has taken.
The cut on his eyebrow was also given by his father's opponent, he had tortured him pretty badly but thankfully his father was able to find him on time and rescued him but since that day he started hated his father and made a vow to never become like him.
But today when I see him, he reminds me of his father. How did this happen?
What has changed now?
"What have you become, Jethro?" I ask with an unpleasant look at him.
"Huh… Andrew, sit down," He takes a deep breath and pats the place beside him on the sofa.
I sit but my gaze remains dark on him, "Speak." I urge.
"Dad is sick, except me there is no one who could take over the business. If the business goes into any other person's hand there would be an addition to blood wars." Jethro explains.
"But… You have made a vow." I argue.
"I broke it," He says calmly and I look at him furiously.
"Don't tell me that suddenly you have started to love your father and also agree to his way of living." I say sarcastically and he doesn't look bothered by my sarcasm.
"Andrew, this is my fate. I can't fight with it." He says in a low voice looking helpless and I sigh sadly.
"You know, I am still here as your family." I tell him and he squeezes out a small smile.
"After your parent's death, I heard that your step sister has taken over all the business. I had been in Russia with my father so I wasn't able to contact you." He says apologetically.
"It's ok, Jethro. I too went into a dark phase at that time." I tell him feeling distressed.
"And marriage, was that also a dark phase?" He inquires.
"No, marriage is good but… I don't know if it remains the same." I tell him worriedly and he chuckles.
Huh, he has no idea what I am going through but I can't reveal it to him either, he is already in a bad phase. I don't want to add more worries to him.
This reunion of old friends should be filled with good memories not by depressing talks.
Jethro and I drank a lot this night, celebrating the ups and downs of our life, talking our hearts out, laughing, yelling, the night went just like that.
When I finally wake up, I find myself in a hotel room, a big luxurious suite. Rubbing my sleepy eyes, I stagger to the door and find Jethro sitting in the living room on the sofa, he is still wearing the black suit, maybe he has changed because it looks neat and tidy.
He has some documents in his hand, he is reading them carefully, deeply focused on them.
I open my mouth to say something and feeling retch I rush towards the bathroom, "On the left." I was looking at which way the washroom should be when Jethro's voice startled me a little.
ARGGHHH
I throw out all the wine that I had drunk for celebration and my stomach hurts like hell.
Weakly, I walk out and then fall on the bed heavily.
"Hey, do you want a doctor?" Jethro's concerned voice comes over and weakly I nod my head.
The pain was getting worse and soon I started to whimper in pain and then slowly I lost my consciousness.
*****
I am sitting under the clear sky with my love beside me, Tessy.
She is glowing, blooming like a flower and I admire her beauty. She keeps her head on my shoulder and I lean my head with a smile on my face.
"Don't leave me, please." She says in a choke voice.
I tilt my head surprised and suddenly she vanishes from my sight.
Tessy…
Tessa…
****
"Tessa."
I open my eyes in a quick motion and then blink when the light makes contact with my eyes.
Ouch…
"Tessa." I murmur, disoriented. She isn't in bed with me, where did she go.
I sit up realizing that she is in Aspen at the moment, I pick up my phone and dial her number quickly. After I hear her voice, I sigh in relief.
Thank God.
But after a moment she starts crying as she always did.
I try my best to console her grieving heart but no matter what I say she won't calm down.
After ending the call, I threw my phone away and lay back on the bed in distress.
Oh, Tessy.
How could I tell her that Ann has said nothing about us getting back together, I had told her with so much determination that I will bring her back but now as I look at myself and Ann's behavior I only feel disappointment.
"I don't think lying here would help you in bringing your wife back." Jethro's voice sounded in the room and I sat up unhappily.
"Were you eavesdropping?" I question unhappily.
"Nope, last night you told me everything by yourself." He reveals and I curse myself.
F**k me.
"What did I tell you?" I ask.
"Uhmmm… many things…" He says and I look at him unconvinced.
"Don't worry, with me your secrets are safe." He says with a bright assuring smile and I roll my eyes.
"I am not in the mood to joke." I tell him angrily.
"Who said I was joking… In fact, I want to help." Jethro says slowly and I look at him in curiosity, "How?"
"I can disappear you both, if you want. I have the power and you can use it." He says casually and I look at him in doubt.
Disappear? Power? What nonsense is he talking about?
"Thanks for the offer, not interested." I snapped at him. "I am hungry." I said to change the subject because I know he won't let go of this topic easily.
He could see through me as he didn't say a word and then called the room service. Soon the room was filled with delicious aroma and I ate heartily.
I stay at hotel with Jethro till evening and then finally bid him goodbye.
It was a good time I spent with Jethro, he even took care of me like a baby. I feel embarrassed but this is why you got friends no, and call them as your family.
"Here, this is my card. You could contact me anytime… In case, you change your mind." He still stays at his offer and I pat his shoulder as I hug him warmly.
"Thank you very much for everything, Jethro. I would love to see you again." I told him.
"Me too." He hugs me back and then finally I head back to my home while Jethro checks out from the hotel going to an unknown location to handle his mafia business.
He thinks the less I know about his business, the more it's better.
I feel much better after spending my time with him but Tessa's cries still twist my heart in unbearable pain. What should I do to convince Ann to return Tessa to my side?
*****
"How was your trip to Aspen?" Dr. Kavanagh asks.
"Good." I told her.
"Did you write anything when you were in Aspen?" She asks and I frown, with Tessa I completely forget about everything.
"Uhmm no, I forgot… Actually I didn't feel the need to write anything. I was at peace when I was with Tessa." I tell her and she looks at me with a faint smile.
"So, this means your time has been spent quite well with your wife… which is a very good thing." She states that I feel proud of myself by her praise.
See, I am not harmful.
"And how's your day going here?" She asks and that returns my depression.
I take a deep sigh, revealing, "Tessa has been very sad and Ann is not in the mood to listen to anything."
"Did you mention Tessa in front of her?" Dr. Kavanagh asks. It was Dr. Kavanagh advises to not mention Tessa's name in front of Ann as she thinks that my attention for Tessa makes her feel insecure.
"No, I didn't." I replied.
"Good, then stay patient, she will send Tessa back to you. One you start showing no interest in Tessa, she will let her go. You'll see." Dr. Kavanagh advises and I hope. I really hope her tricks work because till now I see no hope of Tessa coming back to me.
