Chapter 58 MY PARENT'S HOME

1649words
"Tess, my child.." My mom squeals with happiness when she looks at me standing at the door. She immediately pulls me into a warm hug and soon her eyes start to get filled with happy tears.

"Mom, don't cry…" I tell her as I wipe her eyes with the back of my hand gently.

My mother holds my hand and kisses the back of it, "My precious daughter, How are you, Tessy? Are you happy dear?" she asks, overwhelmed by my sudden visit to her.

"Mom…" I take a deep sigh and then say truthfully, "I am very happy Mom, Andrew is a very good husband." I tell her blushing when I remember the last night.

My mother pulls me into the living room and then sitting on the sofa, my mother notices my necklace, "This…" She points, bemused.

"Mom, Andrew has gifted me this," I tell her, and she widens her eyes in surprise and then smiles warmly, "It's beautiful, Tessa. Just like you."

"Do you know, I have designed this piece?" I tell my mom and she looks at me stunned.

BLINK… BLINK…

"Really, Tess?" She then touches the necklace and starts inspecting it, "My daughter is very talented I know." My mother praises me with a smile.

"Mom, how's Cyril. I should go and give him a surprise visit too." I tell my mom excitedly and then stand up but as I take a step my mother holds my hand to stop, "Wait a minute, lady."

She goes to her room and then walks out with a scarf in her hand, it's an almond color silk scarf that matches my brown-color long sleeves dress. My mother wraps the scarf around my neck and then puts the necklace above it making it visible nicely over the scarf.

I look at her, puzzled, "Mom, what are you doing?"

"You are a married woman and still so careless, If your brother and father see those hickeys on your neck what would they think, huh?" My mother scolds me and I shrug in embarrassment.

"Oh…"

"Oh…" My mother mimics me and then hit my head as a gesture for her scolding, I smile for the first time from her beating because it's been a while since I feel her hand on my head.

My mother looks shocked when she sees me smiling at her, "Go and meet your brother, I'll inform your father about your arrival." She says and I immediately stop her, "No… No… Mom, I want to surprise Dad."

I tell her and she smiles back at me, "As you wish, dear."

She kisses my cheek and then walks into the kitchen to prepare food for me, I climb the stairs, and then without knocking, I slowly twist the doorknob of Cyril's room and then enter.

BOOM

As I step inside on my tiptoes, a pillow hit my face and I groan, unhappily. "Ahhh…"

"Hey dear sis, I think you forget the manners to knock at the door first." He says teasingly and I scowl, "Cyril, is this the way to treat your married sister?" I complain as I pick up the pillow and throw it back at him.

"Whoosh… Someone is mad… Did you fight with your husband, huh?" He raises his brow questioning and I roll my eyes, walking towards him, I give him a threatening look.

"Apologize sincerely or get ready for the punishment." I fold my arms over my chest with a serious face and Cyril looks frightened for a moment from my sudden seriousness.

"I am sorry." He apologizes quickly and I laugh, his puppy face didn't help me in stifling my laughter as I start laughing hard and he scoffs.

Hahahaha…

"I knew it, I knew it…" He then picks a pillow and starts hitting me with it, I too pick a pillow and we start having a light pillow fight that soon turns into a serious one, and suddenly the pillow bursts from the heavy hitters, and all the feathers start to blow out.

We stop, looking at each other for a moment, and then we burst into laughter.

HAHAHA…

"I wonder where are you learning these skills, sis?" Cyril tease me and I say overconfidently, "I am a born fighter…"

We grin and then Cyril notices the extravagant necklace around my neck, "What is this, sis?" He asks, curious, and then leaning down I show him my ruby necklace, he looks amazed by the ruby and diamonds in it.

"I have designed it," I reveal and his smiles widen as he appreciates me, "Sis, it looks lovely… I am glad that Brother-in-law is respecting your passion for the jewel design."

I smile back, yeah, Andrew is very caring and affectionate to me, now.

KNOCK… KNOCK… KNOCK…

There is a slight knock on the door and then my mother enters with a tray of snacks, juice, and tea. "Tess, Cyril.." She opens her mouth with a sweet smile but soon her smile fades when she notices the mess we made. The feathers are all over Cyril's bed.

"After finishing this, you two are going to clean this up…" My mother's soft tone turned into a strict one immediately and I and Cyril both roll our eyes together as we complained in unison, "Mom…"

"No more words, Eat and clean it up. I don't know if ever I am going to get a moment of peace in this house," My mother looks exasperated from our little foolish act and I and Cyril caring less about her take the tray from her hand and start eating shamelessly.

My mother sighs helplessly and then smiling she leaves the room.

My mother is the best, even when she scolds us she is still loving and caring.

I start to tell Cyril about Andrew's attempt of celebrating my not-so-real birthday and he laughs after hearing it like literally anyone would feel embarrassed when he comes to know that for the occasion he works so hard, it wasn't really an occasion at all.

We talk for a long time, laugh, drink and eat. After Cyril starts to get tired, I quickly clean the feathers from his bed and put him to sleep. I tell him that I won't be able to stay late and he nods his hand in understanding.

As I tuck him to sleep and kiss his forehead, he suddenly holds my hand making me stunned, "Sis, you are happy right?" He asks with concern, "Yes, Cyril a lot." I tell him happily.

"Are fairytales real, then?" He asks childishly.

"Yes, if you get a Prince Charming." I smile as I answer him and he smiles back, "I am happy that you are happy, sis… I wish this fairytale stays forever." He says gently and I caress his hair as I look at him lovingly.

My brother loves me a lot, and I can probably do anything to keep that smile on his face forever.

I walk out of the room and place the empty tray in the kitchen, mom isn't here, I then climb up and walk towards my room, the memories of my room make me nauseous as I enter inside and switch on the light.

CLICK

Everything is the same as before, I walk to my small wardrobe and open it, A small smile appears on my lips looking at my little collection of clothes that I keep as my treasure. Who would know that later I am going to get a closet of clothes that is as huge as this room?

I look around, surprised, at how fast time changed, I sit on my bed and remember the time when I used to dream about Andrew while laying on it, subconsciously I lie down and then roll to the window near my bed.

How I used to peek from here whenever Andrew's car would arrive and then feel disappointed when I see Ron instead of my husband.

As I was lost in my thinking, I hear tires screeching and there I see a car stops in front of my parent's home. My smile widens, it's my husband's car.

But what makes me stunned is that instead of my husband, my father gets off the car and he looks distressed. As he turns from the car and starts walking in the walkway towards our home, Andrew steps out of the car and they both seem to have a heated argument.

I frown and get up to make sure that it's my husband and my father arguing with each other.

I roll off the bed and then climbing down the stairs, I meet my mom, "Tess, where are you going?" My mother asks.

"Mom Andrew is outside, I am going to bring him in," I tell her quickly as I wear my heels and then walk out with my phone in my hand.

"You have to tell her," Andrew's stern voice sounded as soon as I step outside.

"No, this isn't the right time." My father's voice sounded after and I frown badly, confused about whom they are talking?

Her? Are they talking about my Mom? Or Me? Or is it something related to Ann?

My mind seems to go into a daze as I walk towards them and noticing me, they both purse their lips in an instant.

"Dad.." I greet my dad and then hug him tightly. My father's face which was filled with distress just now seems to get soften as he looks at me but somewhere in his eyes, I see guilt.

The guilt that I have started to see since the day Ann steps into our home, and as usual, I don't know the reason behind the guilt in his eyes.

If it's about forcing me to marry Andrew then he should know that I am happy with Andrew and hopefully in the future, we will stay happier.
