Chapter 21 TUTOR FOR FRENCH

1604words
Taking a deep sigh, I try to control my overwhelming emotions and then to distract my mother's mind. I ask her about Cyril and Dad. Mom invites me and Andrew to dinner, and I lie that we both are busy meeting people from his work when in reality Andrew has left me here alone in this huge mansion on the very first day of our married life, but at least he has made sure that he will definitely come back.

When will that day be? I have no idea about it at all.

After ending the call, I look down at my wedding ring, the little diamond sparkles under the light, and the words written on it, shine brightly. "Truly Yours, Andrew"

I feel like a heavy stone is pressing my heart as I rub the cold metal and sigh sadly. I hope Andrew will come back soon and give this marriage a chance.

I spend the first day as Mrs. Andrew Jack locked in my own room. Thankfully, Ron had handed me my phone as I spend my time using it and looking at the wedding pictures. Ron has clicked multiple pictures of us while saying vows and exchanging the rings and also he was able to capture the moment of our first kiss.

I blush looking at all the pictures, my husband is truly a handsome man, I need to keep an eye on him later. After all, there would be many women who would happily throw themselves on him.

The thought of Andrew with another woman distressed me a lot and immediately my happy mood was ruined.

At night, Miss Celine calls me and asks me to join Ann for dinner. I walk down and greet Ann politely, Ann gestures for me to sit. I sit beside her as she sits in the hostess seat as the head of the family.

I looked at her hands and didn't touch my cutlery until she started eating the food. The one thing that I have realized pretty quickly is that Miss Swan is the boss of this house. Even a single feather is not allowed to move from its place without Miss Swan's permission.

"So, Tessa, How was your first day, dear?" Miss Swan asks me in a soft and friendly tone, she always makes me feel at home.

"Uhmm… Good." I reply blandly and she frowns a little, "Tessa, dear, if you need something to entertain yourself, you can ask Miss Celine. I am afraid I won't be able to accompany you daily." She says apologetically and I reply immediately in understanding.

"Oh… No… No… You don't need to bother yourself, Ann… I know you are a busy and hardworking person." I give her a polite smile and she holds my hand with warmth in her eyes, "Oh, Tessa, dear you are so good. I hope my idiot brother will be able to see the goodness in you." She says and then sighs helplessly at the mention of the name of Andrew.

I just nod my head in response, what else am I supposed to say on this topic, huh?

We both finished the dinner and then Ann takes me to the fourth floor which has a very beautiful garden on the terrace, we both sit there for a while, enjoying our tea and chatting lightly.

Miss Swan tells me about Andrew, his interest and disinterest. Seems like Andrew also likes jewels just like me. Maybe someday I could offer him my help or discuss things related to jewel designs.

I told Ann that I would like to learn French and Ann immediately agreed with my words. "Yeah, why not, I will arrange a tutor for you. Don't worry." She tells me and I smile widely as I thank her with gratitude.

At 9 o'clock I am off to bed, I am not tired but still, I lay on the bed to sleep. Miss Celine has made me change into a silk nightgown that is very smooth on my skin.

I lay comfortably snuggling into pillows trying to get Andrew's masculine smell but then I realized that Andrew didn't sleep here at all. That bitter reality made me depressed and I sigh frustrated.

I take out my phone and then look at our wedding pictures. I stare at my husband's photo for a long time. I hope he too misses me just the way I am missing him.

The day ends with me sleeping alone on my bed, with a restless heart and yearning for my husband's love.

The day starts as usual with a phone ring.

RING… RING… RING…

Miss Celine wakes me up at 5 o'clock and as I have slept early I wake up on time. Miss Celine then comes to my room and we start picking my outfit for today. I pick a black dress and Miss Celine immediately pulls it away from my hands.

"No… You are a newly married woman… You can't wear such a plain and dark dress." She complains and I pout unhappily.

Black is always in and also classy.

After selecting my accessories and sandals, Miss Celine leaves the room and I go into the shower. After dressing up, I walk out and find Miss Celine waiting for me at the door.

She smiles at me satisfied and then taking the lift we both go down to the ground floor. As per ritual, I wait for Miss Swan on the sofa, and after she appears only then do I walk towards the dining table and greet her politely.

"Good Morning, Ann."

"Morning, Tessa, Did you sleep well, dear?" She asks and I nod my head positively.

"Great, I have arranged for the tutor. He must be here after 1, ok." She informs me and I thank her gratefully, "Thanks, Ann"

We start to eat breakfast and I frown as I am not able to see my coffee mug. "Miss Celine." I call out and she rushes out hurriedly, "Yes, Miss…"

"Where is my coffee?" I ask her and she looks at me in terror and then at Miss Swan.

"I…. I…" She starts to stutter frighteningly and then Miss Swan interrupts her, "Bring her what she is asking…"

"Uhmm but…" Miss Celine begins to say something but Ann's one glare is enough for her to shut her mouth. Miss Celine turns and hurriedly goes back to the kitchen. In a few minutes, my coffee was served to me just the way I like, strong.

Miss Swan keeps a straight face the whole time while eating and I also try to stay neutral. After breakfast, Ann leaves for the office while I walk back to my room. I again started to read the book that I had left yesterday midway.

A knock interrupts me, and I look up to see Miss Celine walking inside.

"Miss, the tutor is here." She informs me and I close my book. Delighted I stand up to follow her but her words halt my steps immediately, "Miss please take off your wedding ring, first."

I look at her, bemused. "Miss Swan doesn't want anyone to know about this marriage for now and also she has asked you to not indulge yourself in any unnecessarily conversation with the tutor. The focus would be strictly on learning."

"Oh," I nod my head and then take off my ring, I keep it carefully in my side table's drawer and then follow her. Miss Celine takes me to the ground floor. She takes me to a corner room and there I see a middle-aged man sitting wearing formal clothes, he does look like a teacher.

He is wearing round glasses that are making him look older.

I greet him politely and he stands up to greet me, we introduce each other, and then as instructed by Miss Swan without indulging in any topic we start learning French.

Sir Alex is a very polite and friendly person, an hour with him is spent so quickly. I feel glad after my first class, thrilled too. When I go back to my floor, I think of looking around. I walk curiously to the door and open it.

This room is the closest to the elevator. It's too huge, just like my room, I step inside and notice a big piano in it. The room has only one piano and a few paintings hanging on the wall. The room has a lot of space. I walk around and then sit on the stool.

I don't know how to play piano but still, in curiosity, I open it and press the key. Although I don't know which key will produce which sound I still keep pressing it and enjoy my little time in the room.

I wonder if Andrew or Miss Swan plays the piano? Or would they ever be at home to have time to look into other rooms? Because all I have seen in these two days is Miss Swan leaving the house at 7 in the morning and then coming back at 7 in the evening.

After dinner, she would go back to her floor and after that, I see her again in the morning at the breakfast table, the same schedule.

I wonder if Andrew also has the same schedule? How would I know about his schedule? But I should know about it now, no? A thought appeared in my mind and I decided to go and ask Miss Celine about my husband's schedule.

After all, now I should be the one taking care of his schedule, not the servants of the house.
