Golden's POV

My lips parted when Damon starts to walk to the portal tree. He put out the small stone in his pocket.

He closed his eyes.

"Hezbeu portal juzmek. Guento nib outside world," he chanted. We stayed quiet as he say those important words.

I can't believe that God Hlaford actually gave us the forbidden spell. Not everyone can go outside. It's prohibited for chosens to leave once they're already here. It means betraying your own world and will be considered as a major offense.

"I—It's opening!" Elaine chirped enthusiastically. My eyes landed on the tree.

The same spiral galaxy like portal appeared. This is where we're going to pass through. "We only have five minutes before it closes. Are you sure you're coming with us?" he asked them both. I gazed at the couple beside me. There are mixed emotions in their eyes, but what I see is determination.

"Certainly," Gab answered.

A sweet smile formed on my red lips. I knew that they wouldn't back down. The training taught them so much. Not just about combat skills, but also brave mentality.

I'm sure that God Diante is so proud of us.

Damon nodded his head in satisfaction. "Kindly enter. You will be teleported into a room. Don't be surprised if you see foreign things. It's a different world from the other side of this portal anyway," he said. Elaine excitedly went to the portal. She was about to touch it when Gab catch her arm.

"Let me in first, so I can grab you," he said worriedly to her. Elaine pouted her lips and let him get inside first.

Gab blew a short sigh before inserting his finger inside. His eyes widened from the weird sensation. "What the hell!" he blurted. I chuckled while watching his amazed expression. "It feels like I'm being sucked."

"Does it hurt though?" I asked him. He turned his head to look at me.

"No, not at all."

I smiled. That's a relief. I gazed at Damon who's currently observing him. He's acting like a God right now. I find it sexy. He's never been too hands-on on something and seeing him be one makes me genuinely happy.

He's like a true leader now.

"Don't be afraid from the strange feeling. It just feels like when I'm pulling your fingers," Gab said to his parsen who seemed to be so bored by his genuine worry.

I smiled amusedly.

"Stop spouting nonsense and just get in already!" she complained while kicking her feet on the ground. "I'm not patient enough for all your blabbering." Elaine rolled her eyes.

Hahaha!

"Fine! Why do you have to be so heartless? I was just worried of you. Psh!" Gab huffed and put his half body inside. He looked at us. "I'll be waiting," he said and went inside fully.

Elaine gasped. "Is he dead?" she asked worriedly.

"I thought you weren't afraid?" I scoffed. She looked at me like a guilty cat. "He's fine. Gab is just waiting on the other side of the portal. Get inside now. He's waiting for you," I told her. She nodded her head.

Elaine is so good at pretending that she's not afraid and scared, but the truth is she actually get scared and worried easily.

That's why Gab never fails to inform her in everything he does. He always comforts her even if she's acting all tough and brave. She's nothing, but a fragile little girl inside who's ready to do anything when her decides to fight.

That's why I love her as a friend.

She stared at the portal for a few seconds before inserting her finger inside. I thought she's going to keep screaming, but she didn't. She heaved a deep sigh and entered the portal fully in just a second.

Silence filled the forest.

I landed my on Damon. He's staring at the portal where Elaine entered. I cleared my voice to catch his attention. "Should I go inside now?" I asked him.

My lips curved into a smile when he turned his body to me. The seriousness on his face made my brows arched.

Why does he look so serious?

"Is something wrong?" I asked in a worried voice. He looked directly in my eyes. "Do you have something to say?" The small bulge on his neck moved.

"The advice the God Hlaford gave me was a little disturbing," he said.

I furrowed my brows. Did I just heard him say disturbing to God Hlaford's advice? The most powerful God on Spheria?

"W—What do you mean? What did he tell you?"

No painter can paint my face right now because of the way I crumpled my face in confusion. I can sense fear in his voice. Is he all right?

"He said that if something goes south with Elaine and Gab..." He looked away. "We'll have to leave them behind," he confessed.

My lips parted. I think my heartbeat just dropped for a few seconds.

What did he say?

Leave them behind?

"He said that?" I asked dubiously. That is very wrong for him to say. He had a hard time deciding if we should go back there or not, but now he's telling us to leave them behind if problems began stacking up uncontrollably.

What is he?!

"I wasn't expecting him to say those to me. He sounded serious though. Like he knows something might go wrong if we bring them with us," he added. I stared at his upset green eyes.

I licked my lower lip and shake my head. "Let's not think about that right now. We have to get inside before those two cause trouble," I said and entered the portal.

My whole body flinches from the familiar strange feeling after touching the portal.

I smiled when I saw Elaine and Gab inside my room. They're gazing around with genuine amazement in their eyes.

"Hello, there."

They looked at me in an astounded manner. "I thought you'd never come!" Elaine blurted and hugged me. Damon came in next to me. "This place looks just like my chamber. They have beds and study tables too. Wait? What is this?" she asked and picked up my camera.

"It's broken," I told her.

She observed the camera that I got as a gift when I was seventeen years old. My teacher gave it to me. I was her favorite student.

"You use it to take photos," I added. She tilted her head confusedly.

"What is photos?"

"It's like captured memories. Do you want to see examples?" She nodded her head. I pointed my polaroids. "Look at those. They were taken using that camera. It captures memories."

"Woah!" she said amusedly.

Damon snaked his arm around my waist. I lifted my head to look at him. He still looks bothered about what he just heard.

"Don't think so much about it. It's not like we're going to that to them," I said softly and caress the stubbles on his face.

He smiled reluctantly and kissed my hand. I landed my eyes on Gab who's busy reading my books. He really likes reading. "Do you like what you're reading there?" I asked in a friendly manner.

Gab raised his head and smiled.

"There are weird informations in this book. Who would want to see the afterlife?" he asked awkwardly. My eyes grew big from what he said. I scooted to him and snatched the book.

This is not actually a book.

This is my journal.

I used to write silly notes whenever I feel blue. One of those is seeing the afterlife. I've always been curious about what will happen when you die. That's embarrassing!

"What is this?" Elaine asked. I looked at her and she's looking at my fake plants.

I couldn't take care of a real one.

"I can't move it. Is it dead?" she asked worriedly. I heaved a deep sigh and glanced at Damon.

"It's fake. It's not real. Just for decoration," I replied. She arched her brows confusedly. "It's a thing here in the outside world. They make artificial things when real ones don't work," I added.

She frowned.

"Well, that's weird. There are a lot of plants outside your window. Why would you stick on fake plants?"

"Because humans like pretty things. And pretty things like plants don't stay pretty forever. They withered and die," Damon answered for me. I leaned on his shoulder.

I'm glad he's here.

Are we going to keep answering their question?
