Chapter 105

Damon and I didn't waste any more second and rushed into God Hlaford's office. My heart is pounding so hard as we made our way to the main hall.
This is will be a huge scandal.
I gulped when we're finally in front of his door. I was about to lift my hand and knock when it suddenly sprung open. I flinched.
"G—God Hlaford!" I blurted when I saw him staring at us from his desk.
I glanced at Damon. He's sweating too. I don't know if it's because we literally run ourselves to death to just get in here or because he's nervous like me. My eyes landed back on God Hlaford. The look on his face screams bad news.
"Get inside," he said in a serious voice.
I waited for Damon to step forward before I move my body. He brought me in front of Hlaford and we both bowed to show respect. I pursed my lips when he just raised his hand and didn't say his usual response.
"Have a seat," he said in a flat voice. I accepted his offer hesitantly. He put his attention to his eagle. It's staring intently at us. The eagle if acting like he knows exactly what's going on.
His silence is scaring me. It would have been better if he'll scold us and give us a piece of his mind, but he's just acting busy with his eagle like he doesn't know we're in here.
"You must have heard already," he finally broke the silence.
I lifted my head to look at Damon. He clenched his jaw and nodded. "We're deeply sorry, God Hlaford!" he said and bowed. I did the same.
"Our ancestors golden rule is to keep our world to ourselves. No non-vortan should know our existence. We followed that rule for thousands of years. Even the most evil vortan will never disclose our world," he started. I squeezed my eyes shut and listen to him carefully.
There's a hint of disappointment and angriness in his voice. He's mad. He's very mad and he's trying to hold it.
"I did not fail in reminding you about that one golden rule, did I? Wasn't my lessons enough?" he asked. I immediately shook my head. T—That's not true!
"I—It's not what we meant!" I stuttered. He turned his blank eyes at me.
"Then what was the reason?" he asked in a low voice. I gulped when I saw the burning madness in his blue eyes. Even his eagle can tell his turning mood.
"It's my fault."
My eyes grew big from Damon's sudden confession. I squeezed his hand tightly and mouthed him to shut the fuck up, but he didn't.
"I should be punish," he added.
"N—No!" I objected. My lips parted when he yanked my hand off him. "Damon it's not your fault. What we did was to save those people!" I looked at the mad God in front of me. He's waiting for an explanation.
Don't worry. I'll give it to you.
"The people on that sanitarium were hypnotized by an amateur Wizardus. God Diante taught us a bit of spells to protect ourselves from curses. We just saved them," I explained. Hlaford clenched his jaw while staring at me. "You don't expect us to just leave them behind, right? We were the reason why it happened to them. It's our responsibility to fix it!"
"Golden!" Damon tried to stop me, but I didn't lost eye contact with the God.
"You were the reason?" he repeated. I carelessly nodded my head.
"A Wizardus followed us there while we're trying to find Aluncina with Josh," I added. A line formed in between his brows because of the unfamiliar name I mention.
"Golden," Damon snarled and hold my arm.
My eyes grew big when I realized what I just said. Hlaford doesn't know that we did our mission with a Mythos. He will be so upset once he knew that Diante was the reason why a Vortan had escaped from Vortaxia.
"Who is Josh?" he asked confusedly.
"U—Uhmm..." I stuttered.
"A human we met while we were on the human world. He escorted us to the sanitarium. A police officer told us that they caught Aluncina ang brought her there," Damon cut me off. I glanced at him and huffed. He saved me again. This mouth will really get us in trouble. Hlaford seemed to be suspicious about what he said. I should divert his thoughts to something else.
"We suspected that the police officer is the Wizardus that messed with us." Hlaford at looked at me. "I'm not sure, but I think I saw his eyes turning ash gray while talking to us. It usually happens when someone is using black magic to copy someone," I added. His brows arched. He stared at me for a few moments.
"God Diante sure did taught you two a lot of things," Hlaford commented. I pursed my lips and looked away. "Let's say that I believe the two of you. How do you plan on fixing this mess that you started?"
Damon and I glanced at each other. He nodded at me and I just remained silent. "We plan on doing nothing," he replied. Both of my brows raised. That's not what I'm expecting to say. I looked at Hlaford and he seemed to be confused of what he said too.
I squeezed Damon's hand.
"Trust me," he whispered inside my head. I squeezed my eyes shut and just let him finish what he's about to say.
"I beg your pardon."
"Humans are known from being interested in one thing, but once their speculations and expectations don't happen, their interests will soon go away eventually. It's something politicians usually do. It's either we'll do nothing or we'll do something to divert the humans' attentions. The first option is the best isn't it?" he explained further.
My brows arched from what he said. He's right. How does he know those things? He seemed to know a lot about how the human world works. Damon told me before that he only came in there for an occasion and nothing more. How does he know so much?
My thoughts vanished when I heard God Hlaford's deep sigh. He stared at two of us for a few seconds before nodding his head slowly like as if he agrees on what Damon just said.
"Give me some time to decide."

We're back in our room. Elaine and Gab are here too. I haven't told them about what happened. I'm sure they don't know much about the human world anyway. Both of them grew up here in Vortaxia and they've never been there.
"Why do you look so down?" Elaine asked curiously while putting makeup on my face. She said that this is a new invention she made. It's one hundred percent eco-friendly and is very organic.
I don't know.
"What do you mean?" I replied defensively. She looked at me from the mirror and rolled her eyes.
"What do you mean what do I mean? You know exactly what I mean. It's so easy to tell when someone is cheerful or gloomy," she scoffed. I smiled shortly and just nodded. Yeah, right. She's becoming more like her parsen, Gab.
She's becoming more observant. It almost seemed like she can read my mind.
"The mirror in front of you is so big that you can see half of your room. Don't you see that frown on your face?" she slurred again. I chuckled and just nodded. It's not like I'll win if I defend myself. Besides, she's right.
I'm down.
Well, who wouldn't? Hlaford told us that we should give him some time to think. I'm overthinking. What in a bloody does he have to think about?
"Where are the boys?" I asked, trying to shift the topic which worked really well. Her face immediately turned sour. I glanced at the room, but it's just only us in here. "When did they left?" I asked. The last time I was conscious, they were still here.
"They went outside."
I pouted my lips and looked at Bubbles. She's here together with Lucy. Yeah, I talked to Cecilia already and we agreed on letting our ivaws be friends. Well, they deserved it.
Both of us received a gift afterwards. I waved and smiled at them. They did the same.
"You're hiding something from me, aren't you?" she whispered in my ear. I looked at her on the mirror and smiled.
"What's left to hide?" I chuckled.
"Everyone knows what's happening in the human world, Golden. You guys were caught using your powers."
