Chapter 102

My hands are trembling. This can't be real. The God of Spheria wants us to stop our golden mission. He wants us to stop finding God Gaviel's bludgeon!
"W—We understand that we've been slow on finding it. But don't you think it's not right to just let them take God Gaviel's bludgeon?" Damon blurted. He can't believe what he just heard too.
Who would? He was the one who gave us this quest and now he's halting it. This is not right. We should convince him to do what's right.
"With all due respect, God Hlaford. Stopping the quest is a dangerous step. We all know why they took it in the first place. They want to harm not just us, but the whole Vortaxia," I added. The God sighed deeply and rest his hands on the table. He looks confused and bothered.
I don't know what happened to him when he was abducted, but I feel like it has something to do with his current decision making.
"This is what's best for all. You have no idea how terrible things would be if we choose to fight them. They're powerful," he replied. My brows furrowed. He sounded weak. It's something a God like him shouldn't show.
What's up with him?
"And so are you. You are a powerful God and you know that. You're not alone in this battle. You have all of us," Damon said. There's a hint of frustration in his voice. We didn't come all the way here just to stop.
"I can't risk your lives."
He stared at us intently. Damon's hand slowly covered mine. I'm honestly shocked right now. I can't believe I'm hearing all these to him. He was the most bravest Vortan I know and yet he's chickening out.
"There's a possibility of winning in taking risks, God Hlaford. Letting them leaves us no choice, but to be preys," Damon's body is starting to steam already. His hand is getting warmer. "I don't know how things are handles in Spheria traditionally, but we will fight. We will fight."
That's the last thing he said before he drags me out of the room. I agree with him.
We will fight.

"I think he's just too afraid to make the Chosens fight. It's not like a friendly battle like Batailen. Someone might die and he's afraid of it," Elaine commented. I just told her what happened in God Hlaford's office earlier.
We're currently in my room and doing girly stuffs. I mean she is doing girly stuffs to me. She's braiding my hair and dressing me up like a doll.
"But that's what we have to do. It's not like those menaces won't touch us if we let them do what they want. The point why they're doing that is to hurt all of us. What's the difference except from the fact that chickening will just kill us all," I ranted to her. She nodded her head like she understands where I'm coming from.
He changed ever since his abduction. I feel like something happened to him that he's not telling to everybody.
Hlaford is hiding us something and I'm sure of it.
"Well, you can't really blame him. He's not just a God. He's a father to all of us. What kind of parent will being his children to chaos, right? He's just worried. That's all."
I yielded a sigh and stare at my reflection on the mirror. I look good.
"But the best decision is to fight, right? I understand his part. I just wish that he'll hear our voice. We don't want those menaces to rule over Vortaxia. They're evil. They'll wipe us out," I huffed. She didn't answer and just finish my hair.
Damon and Gab are outside. They decided to train and leave us be. It has been a chill week for all of us. Everything seems to be fixed. Little did they know some troops are getting ready to attack and invade all of us.
Maybe I can change his mind?
"When will the boys get back?" I asked her. She looked at my reflection on the mirror.
"A little later. Gab said he'll teach Damon how to read expressions," she replied. I mentally said yes and waited for her to get busy.
I have to convince Hlaford alone. I'll do it my way. Damon's hot headed that's why he couldn't express his opinion clearly to Hlaford. Maybe I could pull this off.
I have to do this before God Hlaford release his final announcement.
"Hey, Elaine?" I called. She lifted her head to look at me. I glanced at the beauty product she bought outside the palace. She looks busy testing those. "I'll go get some snacks," I said.
"Oh, okay. Let me come with you." She was about to stand up when I stopped her.
"No! I—I mean I can manage. Besides, Bubbles is just outside. She'll escort me. Just prepare the shaving utensils for the boys," I told her. She arched her brows excitedly like she just remembered something really fun to do. I heaved a silent sigh and leave the room immediately.
It's dark already, but there are still lights. I'm sure that God Hlaford is inside his chamber. I will do my best to convince him. He has to agree with me and change his words.
He will let us fight.

I stared at the intimidating door in front of me. The strips of gold are flashing before my eyes like gems.
My hands are quite cold for I'm nervous. I'm not sure yet if I could change his mind, but I do sure hope I can. I have to.
I lifted my hand to give the thick door three loud knocks. Just enough for him to hear. A few moments of silence answered me for a few seconds before I heard him say, "Blessed."
I turned the knob open and the busy God greeted me. He's still on his desk and doing some sort of memory inventory.
Why is he doing that?
"What brings you here?" he asked calmly. I looked at my feet before lifting my head to answer him confidently.
"I'm here to give you three reasons on why you should let us fight and continue our quest."
He raised both of his brows and offered me a seat. I walked there nervously. I've never been alone with a strong and powerful God like him. It feels strange and heavy.
"I'm willing to listen, Golden."
He stared at me seriously. I quitted my insane trembling and rest my elbow on his desk. "I understand that you'll be in deep pain once you see the Chosens getting hurt because of fighting, but would you rather see them hurt while fighting or hurt while letting?" I started. He didn't answer.
I looked at his sleeping bird. The one that Freeda decided to mimic.
"Their main intention on why they took God Gaviel's bludgeon was to rule over Vortaxia. If we let them, we'll all die like poor little chicks," I said bluntly. I can see the emotions in his eyes stirring uncontrollably.
"Don't take away our right to fight for our Kingdom. I'm not here because I want to die. I'm here because I want to protect myself and the rest of the Chosens," I told him. His lips quivered. Hlaford started tapping his fingers on the table and it's honestly distracting me.
"So, please God Hlaford. For the sake of the living Chosens in our Kingdom who believes in you. Let us be the one's to protect ourselves and our Kingdom. Let us fight till the end. Till the end where everything is right," I said wholeheartedly. He stared at me for a few moments before yielding a deep sigh.
He slowly curved his lips into a smile. "Till the end where everything is right," he repeated.
