Golden's POV

Josh help everyone to go back inside the hospital. We still can't believe what happened, but we were able to help them anyway. Thanks to Damon and his understanding to witchcraft.

"We have to erase their memories," he said. I gave him an astounding look. What does he mean? We can't do that. I don't even think they remember anything. They were too dizzy to understand what's going on.

"I don't think it's necessary. They're still weak and I don't even think they can remember a thing," I rejected. He looked at me with his jaw clenching so bad.

"It's God Hlaford's rule. We can't use power here in the human world."

"You just used salvation spell for them," I replied sarcastically. He sighed.

"It's because they were hypnotized. I was just trying to help."

I rolled my eyes. I don't think it's appropriate to do that. They were just victims and erasing their memories is not different from taking away their rights. This is not what Hlaford taught us.

I'm not going to let him do that.

"Let's find Aluncina first. I'll start by asking the hospital staffs," I said and walked away. I wanted him to know that I'm annoyed at him so I didn't bother looking back. I also made sure that I will sound cold and dead.

He's annoying.

"Baby," he called. I opened the glass door and guided one of the patients inside. Josh handled almost everything and I'm so thankful that he followed us all the way here.

We didn't have a good impression with each other, but he made it up to us somehow. He's a good man.

"Thank you very much!" The old woman wave her hand at me and enter the room. She's been telling me stories of her talking lemon friend and I honestly see her as a pure innocent woman. No wonder why people like her are the main victims of this harsh world.

I stopped a nurse and smiled. "Do you a patient name Aluncina?" I asked.

"Aluncina what, Ma'am?"

My lips parted. She's still waiting for an answer, but I don't know what to say. I have no idea what her last name is. All I know is that she's Aluncina. From what I heard too, servants only have one name.

"I'm not sure, but can you check it for me?" I replied. She nodded her head and start flipping the papers. "Is she there?" I asked. She shook her head.

"I can't seem to find a patient with a name Aluncina."

I released a deep sigh. She said her goodbye and walk away. I looked at my wrist watch. It's already nine. The portal will open soon. This is not good. I need to find Josh.

Thirty minutes passed with me finding him. He's been busy because of the patients while Damon is thinking of erasing their memories. I can't believe I'll come to a point where I'll think of him as an asshole.

Why do I feel like he think low of humans? He started to act this way since we got in here. I've been observing him and I realized how scum is he. Damon never look nor talk to normal humans and he always have this look on his face that push them away.

Josh may have left me a bad impression before, but I'll be honest. He's been putting a smile on my face because of his compassionate toward others especially to humans. Maybe it's because he used to mingle with them and live like one before? He understands what it feels like.

"You're looking for me?"

I smiled as soon as I heard Josh's voice behind me. I turned to him and he's looking at me with a silly smile on his lips. "I heard it from a nurse. They said a beautiful woman is looking for me and I immediately thought of you." He scratched his nape.

My face turned red. Why does he have to say that? He's making me blush.

"Shut up," I said jokingly. My head tilted when he extended his hand to me. "What is that?" He looked at his hand and back to me.

"That's chocolates. I got it from a patient. It's her little thank you gift." He smiled. "You can have it. I'm not into sweets anyway."

My lips curved into a smile. He's too kind. I wish Damon opens his heart to humans too. Josh is warm enough to receive gifts from them. He must really have a big heart behind his foul mouth.

"Why are you just staring at me? You're making me blush." He chuckled. I took the chocolates in his hand and smile. "The girl told me that it's her favorite. I hope you'll like it. There's no such in Vortaxia."

I chuckled. He brought me to the rooftop. We're supposed to be finding Aluncina right now, but I just feel so burn out. I feel like I need to breathe some fresh air. I'm too occupied these days. Even if Hlaford gave us time to rest, I still can't get over with the stuffs I need to face.

And right now that Damon is being such a turn off to me, I don't know what else to feel. I just want to give myself some time for now. It's not a good thing to especially right now that we're running out of time, but I really need it.

"Is something bothering you?"

Josh's voice wakes me up from my thoughts. I lifted my head to look at him. He's still wearing his glasses and his nerdy outfit. He looks very different to what he actually is.

"Is that a disguise?" I asked. He raised both of his brows and check himself. "I mean you act differently from your style. It doesn't really match."

He lifted his head and smile. "I didn't know you're supposed to see me my personality through my clothes. What was your first impression of me?" he asked. I pouted my lips and look away. I'll end up disappointing him if I tell him the truth.

"Come on. It's okay. You can tell me."

I heaved a sigh and landed my eyes back at him. He's now wearing an encouraging smile on his face and os wiggling his brows in a fun way. I took a small bite from the chocolate before answering him.

"Well, you were very annoying in our first meet. You knocked on the bathroom just to say bad things about me and it annoyed me so bad. You were such as asshole." I chuckled. He suppressed his laugh and drank his beer.

"Was I? Sorry about that. It was my defense mechanism. I knew you were a Vortan the first time I saw you that's why I felt awkward. You were the first Vortan I met."

I arched my brows.

"I was?" He nodded his head. "I thought you didn't know anything about Vortaxia before?"

He nodded his head. "Yeah. I didn't know the term before, but unlike you, I have a gift. I have enhanced senses and I happen to notice something different about you."

My lips parted.

"Why you didn't tell me then?" I asked. He smiled and drank again. He look at the stars and back to me.

"You were like them."

I looked at him confusedly. What does he mean by that? He looked at the stars again. I followed his gaze and that's when he realized what he just said. Was he comparing me to the stars?

"You were so pretty and innocent. I didn't want to ruin you by talking to a man like me. I'm a nobody."

My cheeks heated.
