Golden's POV

"Golden! Please. Listen to me."

Damon's voice wakes me up from my deep sleep. I opened my eyes to see the roof of the tent above me. Why does his voice sounds so desperate?

"Hmmm," I groaned. My hands automatically scans the place. What time is it? Why does it looks so dark outside? Why Damon didn't wake me up earlier?

I was about to leave the tent when I hear his voice again.

"Golden! Can you hear me?" he asked. My eyebrows met. Why does his voice sounds like its coming out inside my head?

"Uhmm. Yes, I can. Where are you?" I answered. I pulled myself up and try to look for him outside. "I told you to wake me up early, didn't I?" I told him in an annoyed voice.

"Shit! You can hear me?" he blurted. Did he just say a bad word inside my head? What kind of spell is this anyway. "Listen to me! I am still inside the cave."

"What? Why did you come back?!" I screamed. What kind of bad whiff did he inhaled? "Get your freaking ass back in here before I block the last entrace in that cave so that you can never go out anymore," I threatened. The bonfire catches my attention. It hasn't been long since left. The logs are still fresh.

I went back inside the tent to get my stuffs. I don't have a choice but to come back in the cave. It's getting darker already. Argh! I really hate Damon for this.

"Why did you come back in there?" I asked in an irritated voice. I don't even know how this kind of communication of ours work but it just happens to work this way. "Answer me!" I yelled.

I was about to kill the fire when I saw Damon walking to me. He has a huge smile plastered on his face. Looking innocent, huh?

"You think that's funny?" I slurred. His face falls.

"Huh? What do you mean? I just took this fruits for us to eat," he explained himself. I rolled my eyes.

"Golden the man you're talking to is not me!" the voice inside my head intruded. My brows arched. Is he playing me right now? "Golden listen up. The man is Grustova. I'm still in here suffering and she used me to get out of the cave.

What...

My eyes turned small. I looked at the man standing before me. He looks exactly like Damon. There's an innocent smile plastered on his face. He looks so real. But... How do I know if the voice inside my head is the real Damon? What if this is another trick?

"Please you have to believe me! Where are you right now?" the voice asked. I remained silent. My body winced when the impostor moved to the near table. He put the fruits there and look at me.

"We should eat," he said sweetly.

This is strange. We were told to avoid eating fruits while we're in a mission but he's suddenly offering me these fruits. I should test him more.

I tried to act normal by walking to him slowly. I sat to the opposite side of the table and watch his every moves. His peeling the fruit.

He moves exactly like Damon. I can't tell if he's an impostor. What if the voice I'm hearing is just someone's way to confuse me? This quest is harder than I thought.

I thought we would just be fighting monsters. But we ended up falling to a suspicious game where my observing skills as a parsen is put to test.

There's only one way to find out.

I leaned closer to him. Damon flinched. I smiled.

"You look tired," I said and hold his hand. My smile disappeared when he immediately takes it off just hold it back again when he realizes what he did. I raised my sword and pointed it under his chin. "of pretending to be my parsen," I finished. His eyes widened.

"Baby! What are you doing?" he exclaimed. I tilted my head. He thinks I'll buy that baby sign? Nah! Everyone uses it anyway. "Get that sword off of me now." He growled like a lion which he never does to me. If he's really Damon, he knows I won't hurt him but the fear in his eyes say it all.

I pursed my lips when his body began flickering like a dying light bulb. I grip my sword tightly. I can't believe that Grustova fooled me twice. She's so good at it.

"Show me your true form before I inject this sword in your chest like a vaccine," I threatened. Damon's impostor started changing to a bluish woman. This is Grustova.

"Fool!" she blurted when she had finally got back his appearance. My blood boils from what she said. I leaned my sword closer to her neck. "You can't make it, Golden! You're a fool." She laughed diabolically.

My ears twitched.

"You want this fool to kill you? I would love to slit your throat with this fool's sword," I threatened. Her face changed. "One move and I won't hesitate. You have no idea how mad I am right now." I gritted my teeth. This damn girl made things more complicated for us. I've got no idea about how late is it right now.

All our efforts will be put to waste if we don't make it to Fiscio. I'd really kill this bitch. I'm even more worried now that Damon is still in the cave.

The thought of him being weak and suffering made me more frantic. My face turned dark. I unconsciously slide the sword on her neck creating a very long cut.

"Argh!" she screamed in agony. Blood started coming out of her skin but I didn't care. She glared at me.

"Use your power and take me to the cave right now," I ordered but she just smirked. She doesn't want to do it.

"Kill me instead. I'll never let your man leave that cave. He is mine now!" she screamed on my face. I squeezed my eyes shut. Patience. Patience.

"Argh!" she screamed. It was too late for me to realize that I'm sliding the sword on her neck again. That's what you get from being a bitch.

"You really won't? Then okay. It's not far anyway. I can just kill you here," I told her like a devil and raised my sword to chop her head off when she suddenly screams.

"No! I'll bring you to the cave," she begs. I looked at her using my dead and lifeless eyes. I had enough of the acting and pretending. I will really cut her head off. She must have felt the seriousness in my face. She thinks I'm bluffing? Not until she hears her own heartbeat dying.

I withdraw my sword.

"Don't even think about running away. I can hunt you down like a lost deer," I warned. She nodded in horror. I raised a brow. "What? Use your power now before I changed my mind," I said trying to scare her which worked effectively.

I am honestly so worried right now. I'm worried that we might be too late. Worried that Damon is hurt. I should have known better. I should have reacted the first time I noticed the red flags.

In just a snap, we're back inside the cave. I immediately put my sword below her chin.

"Where is Damon?" I asked. She looked at me using her scared blue eyes but I didn't care. "Don't make me repeat myself." I touched the cold metal on her skin once again.

My head automatically turns when a mirror sprung open like a door. My heart clenched. Damon is there. But is this Damon true now?

"Baby," he called. I remained quiet. My hands slides her throat once again. Deep enough for her to scream in pain.

"Aghhhh! That is really him," she screams on the top of her lungs. I looked at Damon. He's now stepping out of the mirror.

"When was the last time you talked to me?" I asked him.

"I'm in your head," the voice speaks. Damon's mouth didn't even move but his lips curved into a smile. I ran to him.

"Oww!" he groans.

"Fuck you! How can you be trapped here, huh? Are you really a pure dragon!" I scolded. Gosh! I'm so worried. I thought I lost him. My eyes watered.

Now's not the time for this.

I can feel his body temperature raising already. I moved away from him. He's steaming hot.

"Give me a second, baby. I'll give her a taste of hell."
