Chapter 39

Golden's POV

"So what's up with the outfit?" Elaine asked. I looked at her spot to see tons of root crops moving like live snakes. She controls them with her hands. The plants follow her every move. It's satisfying to watch actually.

I stared at my light gray off shoulder dress. Unlike her who wears a green punk style outfit which is what I prefer by the way, I am wearing something a medieval princess would have worn. All my clothes are like this and don't get me wrong, they're pretty but they're just not my cup of tea.

"I don't have much choice. It kind of suits the vibe, right?" I said, trying to convince myself that I'm okay.

She checked me from head to toe. "It looks good on you but I'm not sure about the matching vibe you're talking about." She chuckled. I jokingly rolled my eyes.

Well she's right. We decided to spend our weekend here in Sayana River. There are a few Chosens here too. This place is popular for being a picnic site. I see a lot of unfledged fabrics on the grass just like us. The sky is clear and the whiff of wind did not fail to wash my stress away.

Being away from the castle makes me feel lighter.

"You seemed more Vortan now though. I guess the classes did helped you," she commented. I smiled. Who wouldn't? We had Diante as our mentor.

"So were you able to control other plants too?" I asked. I gazed at the two guys who are busy feeding the unicorns. I softly chuckled while looking at my bewildered parsen. He looks very hesitant while feeding Petunia.

"Not yet? I don't know. They said there's still more on what I can do but look a me." She moved her hands and the root crops followed her. Elaine made them dance by swinging her hands back and forth in to thin air. "I'm so good at making 'em move, ey?" She laughed.

I shook my head while smiling at her. That's better than having no powers at all, right? I've enhanced my swordmanship and archery kills already but I don't think it's enough to defend myself. It's like getting shot after learning karate for years. Yes, I do have the knowledge and all but still... They have powers.

They can just bash me and I'll die instantly like a weak mosquito.

I pulled myself up and fixed my wrinkled dress. "Where you goin'?" she asked. Eyebrows are arched and lips are pouted. I smiled.

"To the boys. They look like they're having fun," I said.

I didn't bother to wear my slippers. I want to feel the grass on my skin. I walked towards their spot with a sweet smile plastered on my face. They're a little far and getting to their place will need an effort.

When did I start hating walking?

I was about to called for Damon when a man came running in front of me and accidentally hit me with his shoulders. "Aww!" I groaned. The guy stopped and went back to check me.

"I-I'm sorry!" he apologized. I didn't bother to look at him. I'm to busy massaging my shoulder.

"It's fine," I lied. Of course, it isn't fine but I don't want to make this conversation longer. I'd end this right away.

"Oh, it's you?" I lifted my head to see the same guy from yesterday. His stormy gray eyes met mine. His thin lips are curved into a smile. He looks happy to see me again. "I'm sorry that you have to meet me like this everytime." He smiled sheepishly.

"No, it's okay really. Maybe I'm just to small for you that's why you couln't see me," I told him bitterly but there's a hint of jestings in my voice and that must have the reason why he suddenly burst into laughter.

"Oh sorry! Hahaha! But no. Maybe destiny wants to keep us on meeting. How about you finally give me your name so this spell would finally break," he joked. I smiled reluctantly and glanced at my occupied parsen. Damon's busy feeding Petunia. He wouldn't know right?

"I'm Steve by the way," he introduced himself and give me his hand. I stared at it for three seconds before accepting his hand.

"I'm Golden. Golden Young."

"Oh? So you're the famous prophecy girl?" he said amusedly. I just smiled and withdraw my hand.

"I'm Steve Scott, an air bender." He winked and flexed his gift by manipulating the air and blowing my face.

"Okay?" I smiled.

My smiled faded in an instant when Damon looked at us. I was expecting him to explode in jealousy but he didn't. Instead, he smiled and walked towards us calmly. I kissed his lips when he reached our spot.

He snaked his arms on my waist and looked at Steve.

"Hey, man. I'm Damon," he said and give him his hand. I stared at him with an astounded. When did he become this friendly? Is that what he gets for feeding unicorns? Oh I would love to make him feed more unicorns in the future. Hihihi!

"I'm Steve." He smiled. He shaked Damon's hand and my forehead furrowed when I saw the hint of annoyance in Steve's face.

What's wrong?

Damon has never been this friendly and I'm not trying to act all high and mighty but that's an honor for him.

He excused himself and went away. I just shrugged my thoughts away and look at my bright parsen. He looks really happy today. I hugged his waist.

"Hmmmm? You look optimistic," I commented. He chuckled and caressed my hair.

"I don't know. I just feel light and bright. Have you tried feeding the mermaids?" he asked cheerfully. My smile faded. What did he say?

"Mermaids?"

"Yeah. The one's over there. We were feeding them. They're friendly and all. Hahaha!"

A line formed in between my brows. Are they being seduced by these fishes?! I looked at the river and see a few mermaids being pampered by Chosens. Majority of them are men. You've got to be kidding me.

"Are you okay?" I asked him. I worriedly caress his handsome face. He looked at me puzzled.

"Hmm? Yeah, of course. But don't you think she' pretty?" he asked while looking at the mermaid a few meters away from us.

Geez

He is infected with they spell!

I was about to confront him when I saw Steve from a far. He's talking to a mermaid. He lend his hand to the mermaid and he looks like he's in the vverge on jumping in the water.
