Chapter 34

"This is impossible," I whispered. My eyes are small and twitching from the astounding scene before me. I stared at the sacred statue of God Gaviel. The bludgeon is gone.
"Damon? Is this possible? It isn't right? You said that the gems surrounding it were sensors!" I hysterically looked at his surprised face.
We were all here a few minutes ago. When we found Hlaford's bludgeon. We were all gathered here. How can someone steal such a sacred item in broad daylight? Everyone's scattered in this main hall. Even the guards are here! The gems? How?!
"Go back to your chambers," a deep voice ordered. I looked at him with worried eyes. His face wrinkled as he forced a smile on his face. Our God has been through a lot. Who would do this...
Everyone started leaving but I didn't budge. I want to help.
"Baby," Damon whispers but I pretended to not hear him. My eyes are focused on the Gods. Even Diante is here. They're all alerted. This is a serious felony. Why would the culprit steal a precious item in broad daylight? When everyone can see him? What is he trying to say? That he is that powerful? That he can just play around and steal sacred items in Spheria?
"Baby, let's go back." He grabs my hand but I withdraw it immediately. "Baby we are out of this. Leave it to the Gods. They know what to do." He snaked his hands on my waist and I look at him like a child who had her candy stolen.
"Why is this happening?" I asked. He didn't answer. He just planted a small kiss on my forehead.
"I don't know either baby. The only think we can do for now is leave it to them. Hmm?" he answered using his soft tone. My shoulder falls while letting him guide me back to our chambers.

Because of the shockening scene earlier, all classes were suspended. Gabby and Elaine decided to join us in our chamber. Of course, we talked about what happened earlier.
Elaine said that they weren't there when it happened. They just heard it from someone because everyone's talking about it. Some even says that this might cause a war in Vortaxia.
"This isn't the first time, Golden. Wizarnia gave Spheria tons of their dirty tricks before we even came here. They won't just stop making problems in our world," she slurs. Her braids swayed when she look at Gabby. I followed her gaze to see both Gabby and Damon talking.
I'm glad they're friends.
"But why?" I muttered. She looked at me. "Why are they causing problems?"
"They envy us. They want to be on top. They want to have the magical gifts that we have. Too bad because their gifts are nothing without learning witchcraft."
"Wasn't that the reason why Vortaxia divided into four kingdoms?" I asked. She nodded her head tiredly.
"Indeed. It's because of their ungrateful souls."
I heaved a deep sigh. I hate how greed and power make people bad. When will they realize that the world doesn't work like that? They just made it look like that but if you'll think about it, it isn't.
"Will the missing bludgeon of Gaviel affect the Spheria?" It was a stupid question of mine but I can't help but to ask it. I know that it's a sacred item but will it actually affect the function of our kingdom?
"Yes. God Gaviel's bludgeon is not just any bludgeon. His bludgeon can see the past. Everyone's memories, whether you like it or not, would be recorded to his bludgeon," she says. My eyes widened. That's cool. "But ever since he died, it seemed like his bludgeon died with him. It hasn't worked for years now."
Really? I think I'm realizing something.
"Do you also know that the Wizardus killed Gaviel?"
My face turned pale. They were that evil? To the point that they would kill someone? A God?
"Do you also know that they cursed a serpent to killed both you and Damon?"
Oh my god.
Yes! I know now. I fucking know now. Wait...
"How about Hlaford?" I said. She looked at me confusedly. "What about Hlaford's bludgeon? What does it do?"
"Oh his bludgeon? It can see the future. But not all of it."
I knew it!
I didn't waste any time. I lifted my body and grabbed Damon. We have to hurry!
"Woah! Where are you guys going?" Gabby asked.
"Baby?" Damon asked but I just hushed him.
I finally realized what's happening. Why Hlaford's bludgeon was stolen and why the culprit gave it back. The girl in the bathroom. Why Gaviel's bludgeon was stolen. The serpent. I know now!
I smiled as soon as we reached Hlaford's office. I was about to open it when Damon stopped me.
"Baby! Tell me what's going on."
"I know now! Why Hlaford's bludgeon was stolen. The girl in the bathroom. Why Gaviel's bludgeon was stolen. The serpent."
"What? What girl?" he asked. His eyes formed a thin line. The look on his face spells disapproval. But no! I know I'm right. I just need to confirm something and only Hlaford can confirm it.
I caressed his face and smiled. "Trust me. I know what I'm doing."
He heaved a sigh and let me open the door. Nerves crept within me when I saw the busy Gods but I didn't back down. I'm already here. I might as well say what's on my mind.
They looked at us with question marks on their faces. We didn't even bother knocking. I want to smack myself on the head because of that.
"Golden, dear? What brings you here?" Diante asked confusedly. They look like they're in the middle of thr discussion.
I felt Damon's hand dominating mine. He's about to withdraw my intention! No!
"I've got something to say!" I said before Damon say something. He looked at me with round eyes but I ignored him. They have to hear what I'm about to say.
They looked at each other. Battling whether they would listen or not. Hlaford looked at us with his old face. "Blessed." I smiled and entered his office. The heavy atmosphere of the office isn't helping at all but I'm too determined to notice that.
"What is it?" he asked.
I heaved a deep sigh before opening my mouth to speak. I was about to say something when Damon squeeze my hand.
"We're deeply worried. We wanted to know if we can do something," he says. I looked at him with round eyes. What the fuck is he saying?
"Damon!" I whispered but he didn't look at me.
"Please let us know if we can help." That's the last thing he said before I found myself outside Hlaford's office.
"Baby," he calls but I just ignore him. Why would he do that? He took the freaking spotlight.
"Baby please. I had to that. You're not sure yet. The girl in the bathroom could be falsely accused if I let you speak like that. How sure are you that it's her?" he said frustratingly.
My heart clenched. He is right. Damn my impulsiveness.
"I-I'm sorry," I said in a small voice. He just smiled weakly and kiss my forehead.
"We'll sort this out, hmm?" he says.
"We'll sort this out together."
