Chapter 7

Golden's POV

"Are you sure you don't know him?" Travis asked curiously. I glanced at him and he's staring at Damon.

"He's been here since morning and all he does is look at you," he whispers. I cleared my voice and took a quick glance at Damon and he wasn't lying.

My eyes met his green emerald eyes. I don't know how and when but I just realized how perfect his face is.

His rich brows are perfectly furrowed. His tall nose bridge is enough to lock my eyes on it down to his bloody red lips.

"Do you want me to drop you off?" he asked. Travis seemed to be bothered by Damon and I couldn't really blame him. He has been always a protective friend of mine.

I'd usually stay away from people he feels uncomfortable with because he says that he knows what's going on a man's mind and I trust him on that but I couldn't bring myself to avoid Damon.

There's something about him that's pulling me closer.

I diverted my eyes from Damon and looked at him. "You don't really have to. I know him," I lied. His eyes doubts my words but he didn't say anything.

I told him earlier that Damon was just a guest from last night but now I'm twisting my words. I ain't really lying. We've exchanged our names already. I think that's enough?

"Okay," he shortly replied and smiled sheepishly at me. I reluctantly smiled back.

I glanced at Damon and he's still looking at me. I avoided his gaze as our conversation earlier flashes in my mind again and I couldn't help myself but feel curious from what he said.

Flashback

"O-Oh that's nice," I awkwardly said.

I think out loud again and he unfortunately heard what I said. I wasn't really expecting him to respond but he even gave me a confusing answer.

What does he mean by his response?

I was about to go back at the counter but what he said stopped me. "You seemed to be clueless about the invitation you received." I lingered a few inches away from his table for a minute and so, when I've finally digested what he said, I turned my body and looked at him again.

"What do you mean?" I asked. His eyes are staring directly at me and I almost thought that I melted like an ice because of his gaze.

"Let's talk when you're off to work," he answered using his cold monotonous voice.

End of Flashback

So yeah.

I ended up having an appointment with an unknown albino guy that I just met last night. I don't really remember being a person that trusts someone so easily. But he gives me this unexplained contentment when he's near me. I feel safe around him. I feel guarded.

I must have lost my mind.

I can still recall the smoke that came out of his nostrils. I can't really tell if he was vaping that time and that's why a smoke came out of his nostrils but the smoke was just too vivid for a vape smoke.

It's more of like a smoke coming out of an hot object which happens to be him. His body temperature last night was also peculiar.

Everything about him is peculiar.

Is he even a person?

What if he's somewhat different? Like special?

Why am I even thinking about supernatural stuffs. It's not like they exist in real life.

___

I took out my belongings from the locker and wear my casual clothes. I'm finally off to work. I feel like this is the longest day of my life.

I've been wanting to go home so bad and I couldn't really explain why. Maybe because I have an appointment with Mister Damon later and we're about to meet in the next few seconds?

My feet automatically stopped from walking when I heard several footsteps from behind. I saw Travis running towards me and I welcomed him with a sweet smile.

"Hey!" Travis greeted and walked beside me. I smiled at him when he snatched the garbage I was carrying. Such a gentleman.

"You shouldn't be really doing this you know," he said and I laughed softly.

"I thought I could lessen someone's job by throwing the garbage voluntarily," I told him and he smiles while shaking his head.

When we reached the back of the bar, he throws it at the dumpster and wash his hands. He looks at me handsomely while wiping the water off.

"Should we walked home together?" he asked.

"No," I surprisingly answered. He looks pretty shocked from my blunt answer and so I tried to loosen it up a little. "I mean I have to run some errand," I lied. He looked at me with doubt and I just smiled at him awkwardly.

Travis isn't really a simpleminded kind of person and I know that he can sense that I'm lying. I don't lie to him often though and he knows that I only lie when I want to keep some things for myself only. He won't forced me to tell him the truth though.

He respects my privacy and that's why I grow fond of him. He's basically like a brother to me.

"Okay," he responded and smiled sheepishly. We walked back to the front bar and waited. We talked anf laughed while waiting and I almost forgot that I have to see Damon.

When the bus stopped in front of us he gave me a kiss on the forehead. "Take care. Call me when you're home," he reminded and I nodded.

He hopped on the bus and waved at me when he saw me through the window. I waved back until the bus lost completely from my sight.

I lowered my hand and released a deep sigh. Damon was waiting for me the whole entire day but now that I'm off to work and ready he disappeared off my sight like a bubble.

Was he only bluffing?

Was he making fun of me because he could see the desperation in my face when I asked him about the envelope?

Why did I even believed him on the first place?.

It's also my fault.

I sighed deeply and turned around to go home but my face collided with someone's hard chest. I whimpered when it hit my nose. I think my nose got dislocated. I frowned while massaging my nose.

What kind of human will stand behind someone's back? I clicked my tongue in annoyance.

I lifted my head and it was Damon.

"I-I was looking for you," I awkwardly said. I can feel that contentment again whenever he's near me. The safeness. I feel complete. Like the longing in my heart has been filled. It's weird but I like it.

I like it when he's around.

He smiled and I can feel my cheeks heating because he looks ten times more handsome when he smiles. "That's so nice to hear. My parsen is looking for me," he says. His pupils dilated and his lips formed a mischievous smile.

What a handsome way to tease someone.

But wait? What did he call me? A parsen?

My eyebrows furrowed. "P-Parsen?" I repeated.

"Oh... I almost forgot that you've never been to Vortaxia," he sexily laughs and I bit my lip.

Did I just described his laugh sexy?

I must be really crazy.

"Parsen means mate. You're my mate Golden," he said and smiled.

M-Mate?

What the...

Are we wolves or something? I thought I screwed at hitting on guys but he's far worse. How could he call a girl a mate?

So when he does sexy times with a woman he calls it mating?

What a weirdo. I suppressed my laugh and tried to look serious.

I think he never talked to a girl before.
