Chapter 13: Find Him Now

1284words
Since his marriage to Ramona was annulled, Hunter seemed to rediscover his freedom. His face that was once full of pressure now looked bright and radiant. His smile again adorned his lips, and his eyes exuded a cheerfulness that had rarely been seen before. There was a relief that was so obvious in every movement, as if the great weight that had been squeezing his shoulders had simply evaporated.

However, behind Hunter's happiness, Belinda is still plagued by mixed emotions. His anger at Ramona hadn't completely faded, and his inner wound deepened when he thought about the miscarriage that Ramona had experienced. His future grandson, who had been the hope of the future, is now only a painful shadow. Every time Belinda saw Hunter, the disappointment resurfaced, even though she knew that her son was now freer. Hunter, on the other hand, couldn't hide his dislike when he saw his mother still clinging to the feeling of loss, as he himself had never wanted a descendant from Ramona.

The tension in Hunter's mind broke instantly when the door of his room opened. Liam's figure appeared with a quick step, his hands grasping several neatly arranged files. "After this, your meeting with a colleague from Spain," Liam said in a professional tone, placing the files on Hunter's desk. The sound of the stacked papers creates a subtle sound, drawing Hunter's attention away from his mind running back in time.

Hunter nodded briefly, grabbed a pen and began to affix his signature quickly. His gaze was filled with focus again, leaving behind a moment of bitter memories and mixed feelings about Ramona and his mother. For him, today was a new beginning, and he would look to the future without the shadows that bound his steps.

Liam looked at Hunter for a moment with a curious look before finally asking a question that bothered his mind. "Why does your face look so happy after the cancellation of your marriage to Ramona?" he asked, examining the beaming expression that was rarely seen in his best friend.

Hunter leaned his back against the chair and looked at Liam with a haughty smile. "Now my life is back to the way it used to be, I'm free now. And the label 'anti-female Hunter' is attached to me again," she replied in a triumphant tone. "No one knows if I've ever had sex with that lowly woman. Let's just say he was lucky at that time," he continued, his voice full of pride and ridicule.

Liam let out a long sigh, annoyed by Hunter's arrogant attitude. In a more serious tone, he asked, "Are you going to be like this until you grow old?" The question made Hunter's laughter stop instantly. His smile faded, and his eyes narrowed at Liam.

"What do you mean? This is my life, Liam. I hate women. They were just complicated and attention-hungry creatures, unprofitable, and there was nothing they could contribute to me. I can do everything with my money," Hunter replied, his tone cold and sharp.

Liam was silent for a moment, looking at Hunter with a concerned look. "Is this because of Weysi?" he guessed, his voice soft but sharp, aiming at an old wound that had never healed completely.

Hunter's face turned flat, and the light in his eyes went out. A long-pent-up sense of anger and heartache appeared for a moment in the look of his eyes. "Don't talk about that garbage," Hunter replied in a cold, sharp tone. Liam could only sigh heavily, realizing that his best friend was still trapped in the shadow of the past that haunted his life. The room suddenly felt silent, filled with unspoken memories and bitterness.

Liam, who felt the tension between them thicken, decided to divert the conversation. He shifted the bundle on the table while taking a breath, trying to ease the stiff atmosphere. "Don't you feel awkward about the annulment of your marriage?" he asked, his voice as quiet as possible so as not to provoke Hunter's anger again.

Hunter, who was still fixated on the previous words, raised his eyebrows to the side. Curiosity appeared in his eyes, replacing the anger that had just ignited. "What do you mean?" he asked, tilting his head slightly. His voice was softer, but full of caution.

Liam looked at his best friend seriously, considering his words before continuing. "The cancellation of this marriage happened too suddenly. You may be relieved, even happy, but don't you feel that something is wrong? Ramona's motif, for example. Didn't all of this happen so quickly, without a clear explanation?"

Hunter leaned his body back, his gaze hardening as if thinking of something. For a few seconds, the room was silent, only filled by the seconds of the clock on the wall. His mind began to spin, remembering the last moments with Ramona and the change in attitude he felt from him before their marriage ended.

"So you think this is more than just an ordinary wedding cancellation?" Hunter finally spoke, his voice sounding full of consideration. There was a faint doubt on his face, something unusual for a man who was usually confident and full of confidence.

Liam looked at Hunter seriously, his two eyebrows linked in an expression full of anxiety. He took a deep breath before continuing, making sure his words were clearly articulated. "Didn't Ramona insist on refusing to abort her pregnancy before? That's pretty self-explanatory, Hunter. He resists all the pressure from you. So if this miscarriage was indeed as accidental as Jeseline told me, doesn't that sound strange? Too coincidental, right? This miscarriage occurred right on your wedding day. It was as if it was planned, like Ramona deliberately did it to get away from this marriage."

Hunter was angry when he heard the description explained by Liam.

"This woman is indeed not to be underestimated," Hunter muttered, her voice hoarse and filled with overflowing anger. His jaw hardened, until his facial muscles seemed tense. Every word that came out of his mouth sounded like a pent-up threat, as if he could no longer resist the outbursts of anger that flowed throughout his body.

Liam, who was listening to the command, nodded quickly. Without wasting any time, he got up from his chair and rushed towards the door. However, his steps just stopped. Involuntarily, his gaze met Hunter's eyes that were burning with anger that was burning even more. There was a tension that could almost be felt in the air, a fear that deepened and haunted the two.

Liam held his breath for a moment, then decided to speak. "If this miscarriage is just a play, it means that she is still pregnant with your seed," she said quietly, her eyes never leaving Hunter's gaze. The words hung up, as if giving a new weight that further thickened the anger on Hunter's face.

Hunter's eyes turned redder and redder, his gaze burning with hatred that he could no longer hide. "HURRY!" he growled, his voice deepening and echoing, full of pressure that was hard to ignore. "Find him, whatever it is! Don't let him get away with it, Liam!"

Hunter's voice was forceful, filled with anger that could no longer be contained. Every word he spoke vibrated in the air, creating a tense tension. Liam nodded once more, understanding how serious this order was. In an instant, he turned around and rushed out of the room, leaving Hunter with a burning sense of anger within him, while the sound of Liam's swift footsteps faded further and further into the distance.
