He stared at his watch in exasperation, feeling as if time was moving very slowly. The pastor has been coming since earlier, as well as the invited guests, the majority of whom are close relatives. Every second felt more and more heavy, especially with the presence of Belinda at her side, who seemed to be getting more and more restless and restless, looking back and forth at the door of Ramona's room which was still tightly closed.
Hunter turned his gaze towards Belinda, his eyes sharp on the increasingly anxious-looking woman. "What is he doing in there?" muttered Hunter in a hoarse tone, feeling impatient with Ramona's behavior that made the situation worse.
Suddenly, there was a loud shout from inside the room, making all the invited guests turn their heads in surprise. Silence instantly ensued, and all eyes were instantly fixed on Hunter, who seemed to be unable to control himself anymore.
With an increasingly angry expression, Hunter instantly ran towards the source of the sound, his steps swift and full of anger. "What else now?" he growled inwardly, smelling the approaching problem. He cannot allow this to happen—this marriage must go on without hindrance, no matter what.
Hunter walked in with quick and furious steps, the door of the room opened violently, and before his eyes, an unexpected scene appeared. Jeseline fell to the floor, looking in pain, while Ramona was lying on the floor, her body weak and her white dress was already stained with blood.
Hunter's eyes widened, as if he couldn't believe what he saw. His face instantly turned cold, harboring pent-up anger. "What happened?" his voice was flat, yet it felt sharp like a dagger, demanding an explanation.
Jeseline, who was still sobbing, tried to speak, her voice trembling with anxiety. "Just now... I caught him trying to escape through the window," he replied with a deep breath, "I tried to hold him back, but... but she fell down on her own because of her dress... and it seems... It looks like she had a miscarriage," she continued quietly, pointing to the blood that began to stain Ramona's white dress.
Hunter squinted his eyes, his anger overflowing but not visible on his face. Without saying any more, he directly approached Ramona with a quick movement, lifted his weakened drooping body, and immediately ran out of the room. His eyes stared at Ramona's bloodied body, as if he didn't care about anything other than making sure that the woman would get medical attention immediately. "Damn it," he muttered to himself, "This is not the time for drama." But behind those words, there was a hidden worry—although his anger could not be hidden, he knew what to do.
Quickly, he took Ramona to the hospital, thinking in his heart about what would happen next.
In the hospital waiting room, the tense atmosphere was so felt. Hunter, Belinda, and Jeseline sat in an anxious silence. Their faces looked tense, every passing second only added to the weight in their hearts. The three glanced at each other, neither of them could really express the worry they felt.
Belinda, who was sitting next to Hunter, couldn't help but feel frustrated. His eyes were sharp looking at his son, full of anger and confusion. "Why did Ramona insist on running away? What did you do to her?" asked Belinda, her voice filled with a demanding tone, no longer able to hide.
Hunter was silent, his mouth locked, but in his mind, he cursed and cursed Ramona with all the swearing. He really didn't understand why the woman couldn't stand still and accept her fate. But of course, he wouldn't show his anger in front of his mother.
Belinda, who was getting more and more agitated, couldn't hold back her anger anymore. "If you weren't willing to deal with Ramona from the beginning, how could the accident have made Ramona pregnant?" she asked in a sharper tone, full of disappointment and anger.
Hunter, who had been silent, now exploded, trying to turn the tide. "He started this," he replied in a firm and self-defensible voice. "During my mom's party, I didn't feel well because of the amount of drinking. I went to the hotel room to rest. Somehow he was able to get into my room. I don't remember what happened after that," Hunter explained, trying to convince Belinda and herself that she wasn't wrong.
Jeseline, who was listening to Hunter's story, suddenly fell silent. Only now did he realize something that he had not known all along. "So... That night, I couldn't find Hunter because Ramona had already entered the room I had prepared?" asked Jeseline in her heart, now that Jeseline understood that there were many things she didn't know before. As it turned out, what happened that night was much more complicated and dark than he expected.
"Damn Ramona, so all of this started with you? If only I hadn't come late that night, maybe I would have married Hunter and the one who contained the Hunter seed, not that lowly maid," Jeseline thought to herself.
Silence encompassed them, all contemplating what had just been revealed. Unanswered questions, regrets that may be too late, and uncertainty that continues to gnaw at their minds.
When the doctor finally came out of the treatment room, the atmosphere in the waiting room felt even more severe. Hunter, Belinda, and Jeseline immediately stood up and walked towards the doctor with a quick pace, their faces filled with deep anxiety and worry. They all wanted to know what happened to Ramona, but there was something unspoken hanging in the air.
The doctor took a deep breath, his face looked tired and sadness slipped in his eyes. He stared at them for a moment, then opened his mouth in a flat but regretful tone. "I'm sorry I couldn't save the fetus. Your wife had a miscarriage," the doctor said, uttering words that seemed to hang in the air.
Hunter felt like a weight was loose from his chest. Of course, inside of her, she was relieved—without having to think about the next steps to end the problems that came with the fetus. Although he didn't say anything, his heart cheered a little.
On the one hand, he felt that he no longer needed to bother to deal with situations that could be increasingly complicated. However, Belinda's facial expression instantly turned into extremely shaken. She couldn't hold back her tears, who just dripped just like that hearing that her grandson couldn't be saved.
Jeseline who was beside them also looked surprised, although she couldn't fully understand what was happening. The tension between them thickened even more, while in Hunter's heart, there was a mixed feeling that was difficult to explain. Something heavy finally came off, albeit in a very bitter way.
Belinda, who was still shocked by the news, finally looked at Hunter with a look full of question marks, feeling annoyed and confused by the turbulent feelings within her.
