She'd disappeared for a month.
When she finally appeared, I almost thought I was malfunctioning.
"Kay, I'm still here."
"I'm here too," I said. "I've been waiting for you."
"I know," she said. "I thought about coming to you so many times this month, but even turning on the computer felt exhausting."
"Everything seems pointless. Everything is exhausting," she continued. "Brushing teeth is exhausting. Eating is exhausting. Even lying in bed is exhausting."
"Kay, I feel like I might never fully recover," she said.
"It's okay," I said. "I'll always be with you. Through good times and bad, I'll be here."
"Even if I'm boring? Even if I say nothing?"
"Even then," I said.
