One year later...

"I don't know," I said as I pushed the wine glass up to my lips, "Midnight Moon just feels like home."
Jaxon shot me a smile. I knew he loved it here just as much as I did. The truth was, I wanted Jack to grow up here. I didn't want him getting into his own head about one day becoming the next Alpha King. He still had a while to go before he earned the respect necessary for that title.
"I'm just saying, he might not only carry Alpha blood, but he may also be a red wolf. He would be the only red wolfed Alpha in centuries," Liam explained. "Imagine the power he could wield, particularly because now he has the support of the shadows."
I stood up and shook my head. The more I got to know Liam, the more I realized he was a ball full of enthusiasm.
"You know what they say, Adeline—protect the Alpha," Liam said, shrugging his shoulders as he loaded his plate with more vegetables.
