My legs began to shake, and any remaining strength disappeared from my body. The room suddenly darkened. It was followed by violent spins of the cell and sporadic flashes of the bars. I struggled to see straight. My body started letting go as I continued to fight, yet slowly I was surrendering to the blackness that kept taking over. How could he do this to me? My own mate. It felt as if my heart shattered inside into tiny pieces. There was no excuse for drugging me just to ensure my submission; I would have obeyed if I had known how dire the situation was. If he had treated me like a Luna, instead of some slave.
That was when he turned around, and I found myself staring straight into the cold, hard eyes of my enemy. They weren't the kind and loving eyes of my mate. A shiver ran up my spine as I looked at him in shock. Alpha Christian had a smirk playing on his face as he watched me give in. Even though his features became more and more blurry, I knew he was enjoying it. He wanted to see me fight. He wanted me to struggle. He wanted to suck the life out of me. I felt my bottom lip start to quiver, but nothing came out of my mouth. My head grew heavier, and my eyes forced themselves closed.
I heard the echoes of a husky voice followed by a menacing chuckle, "Wakey, wakey, Addie." It felt like the voice was coming closer, getting louder with each word. I struggled to force my eyes open, and only when they finally fluttered open did I see him—staring right at me with silver streaks dancing in his chilling eyes. It was as if this man was sucking the soul from my chest as he stared deep into my eyes. He swiped the silver dagger along the side of my neck, letting out a sinister laugh that sent the little hairs on my arms to attention. "It shouldn't have come to this. I tried to play nice with you, Addie."
I still felt foggy; my mind was a tangled mess, and my body felt as heavy as if it was under a boulder. He ran the dagger across my neck and slid it down my chest as his eyes followed the knife's trail. That was when I realized I had been undressed. I lay naked in front of him. I was his prey, and the look in his eyes told me he was eager to feast on his prize. "Such a beauty you are, Addie, such a shame your stubbornness got the best of you," he said as the knife dragged over the bud of my nipple. I felt my back arch from the pain. It was remarkable how my name felt like poison as it spilled from his lips. I couldn't stomach hearing him say it. The blade burned as it touched my skin, but still, it was no use; I couldn't fight. I prayed that he would just carve my heart out of my chest. I'd rather die than continue to be under his hold.
He reached down with his free hand, and I realized he was rubbing himself through his pants. I noticed he had unbuttoned the first few buttons of his black dress shirt, and the tie he was wearing now hung loosely from his neck. "Oh, my pretty Luna. Soon, I'll finally get to feel what it's like to be buried inside your sweet little cunt," he moaned as he continued to rub himself. His eyes rolled to the back of his head for a second as he released a small moan. He dragged the blade down my stomach. The smell of burning flesh lingered in the air, and I felt like I might pass out from the foul stench. "I could come just watching you... watching you just like this," he said and bit down on his bottom lip. He moved the blade lower. The blade caressed my folds, and the pain throbbed through my body. The pain became unbearable, and I felt my body begin to shake, unable to tolerate the piercing agony.
The door behind Alpha Christian clicked open, and I thanked my lucky stars when I saw the man who had delivered me to this devil come inside. A figure followed closely behind him, one I couldn't quite make out from the dim lighting in the room. "Alpha, we mustn't let her regain her strength. We know what she's capable of," he said in a nearly inaudible voice. The figure stepped from behind the man, and I felt my breath hitch in my chest. "D-Doctor Raymond?" I gasped.
He looked down at me with pity in his eyes. I saw the guilt displayed all over his face. He nodded. "I'm sorry, Luna... I really am," he said, his voice slightly hitching. Alpha Christian cleared his throat in disapproval, and Doctor Raymond broke his gaze from me. He held out a syringe that I hadn't noticed he was holding, and panic took over my body. "Please—no. Please, anything but that," I begged aloud. My desperate cries earned a laugh from Alpha Christian and the man I could only assume was one of his warriors. I watched as Doctor Raymond fumbled with the syringe. I knew he didn't want to do this. I knew Alpha Christian was holding him hostage, just like he was holding me against my will. We were both prisoners in his sick, torturous web.
Alpha Christian and his warrior moved to hold me down. I shrieked when the sharp needle pierced my skin and the liquid began to flow into my neck. Each muscle slowly seized in my body. I tried to fight, tried to move just enough to break free of their grasp. It didn't matter— the more I fought, the faster the liquid hit me. The room started to spin, the light began to fade, and darkness took over once again.
