Nathan's POV

'What's wrong with her?" Scarlett's mother sobbed. Just then, Scarlett opened her eyes, blinking several times as if trying to adjust to the bright lights. She looked disoriented, glancing around the room.

'My child," her mother cried, tears of joy streaming down her face. Scarlett turned to look at her mother, then shifted her gaze toward me.

'Where am I?" Scarlett murmured, her voice barely audible.

'You are in the hospital, sweetheart. I'm so relieved you are back," her mother said, holding Scarlett's hand, her voice full of emotion.

'Hospital," Scarlett repeated, her tone distant. Suddenly, she snapped awake, jerking with surprising strength. She grabbed her head with the hand that had the IV, making everyone gasp.

'Calm down, Scarlett. You are hurting yourself," I urged gently.

'What am I doing here?" she groaned, clutching at her hair.

'Please, my child, try to relax," her mother pleaded, while Kristine stood frozen in a corner, afraid to come closer.

'My child," Scarlett whispered, clinging to the word. 'My child... Where's Razi? Where is my child?" she asked, panic creeping into her voice, making her mother step back.

'She's fine," I assured her, gently holding her chin to bring her focus to me. 'Razi is safe, okay?"

Scarlett's chest rose and fell rapidly, her heartbeat pounding. She pushed me away, and I stumbled back in shock.

'Call the doctor!" her mother cried, struggling to hold Scarlett down. Kristine bolted out of the room. 'Scarlett, listen to us, please."

'Where is my child?" Scarlett demanded, yanking out the IV, causing blood to trickle from her hand.

'You need to stop this!" I exclaimed, grabbing her hands and pressing her down on the bed. 'You are hurting yourself, Scarlett. Please, calm down!"

'Let me go!" she thrashed, fighting to free herself. 'I want my child," she sobbed. I couldn't believe the strength she had.

'Scarlett, please," her mother begged, gently touching her leg. But Scarlett's thrashing knocked her mother back a step.

At that moment, the doctor rushed in with a nurse, a syringe ready in his hand. Holding Scarlett down, he administered the injection.

'I want my child," Scarlett whispered as her energy faded, her hands relaxing in mine as she drifted off to sleep.

'What's wrong with her, doctor?" I asked anxiously.

'She's suffering a mental breakdown due to the trauma of her child's death, but she will be okay?" he said.

'How long will she be like this?" her mother asked, stroking Scarlett's hand, her voice choked with tears.

'It's hard to say. We will run some tests and monitor her behavior closely for now."

'Ouch!" Kristine suddenly shouted, drawing our attention. She clutched her belly, struggling to stay upright as the nurse rushed to support her.

'What's wrong?" her mother asked, hurrying to her side as the nurse helped Kristine.

'The baby... the baby is coming!" she cried out. I watched in stunned silence as the doctor, nurse, and her mother helped her out of the room. She could barely take a step. I had never witnessed a woman in labor—not even in movies. It might sound strange, but it's the truth. I never enjoyed watching movies as a child; people thought it was unusual, but I found it a relief. At least, I don't have to see people suffer like this.

With a sigh, I took a seat beside Scarlett, who now seemed to be sleeping peacefully. I wanted her to wake up, but not like before. 'Oh, dear God, please protect her," I prayed silently, kissing her hand.

Three hours later, Kristine gave birth to a beautiful baby girl. Today, I finally understood what it was like to give birth. Her screams echoed through the hallway, nearly deafening me. Her mother stayed with her, comforting her. I didn't go in, of course; I only stood in the hallway near the delivery room.

Once she was ready to receive visitors, I entered the room. Kristine was beaming, watching over her baby as she lay in her cradle. I couldn't resist looking at the adorable little angel, sleeping so peacefully. When I gently touched her, she was so soft that I immediately pulled my hand back, afraid of hurting her.

'She won't break, Nathan," Scarlett's mother teased, and we all laughed.

I couldn't leave the hospital since Scarlett's mother needed to be with Kristine and the baby. Kristine was still too weak, so her mother split her time between both of them.

Around midnight, I heard Scarlett whisper, 'My child," and my eyes shot open. She was still sleeping peacefully. Glancing at my watch, I saw it was past 12 a.m. 'My child," she murmured again, shifting slightly on the bed. I just hoped she wouldn't wake up as she had before. 'My child."

'She is fine, Scarlett. Just rest," I whispered, hoping she could hear me.

She smiled faintly, reaching out as if pulling something closer. If I thought Scarlett would wake up and be completely herself, I was mistaken. The way she acted in her sleep made me realize that she might not return to normal so easily.

'I'm here, okay?" I murmured, kissing her hand as her smile faded and her hand dropped back onto the bed.

I decided to rush home to freshen up and change before returning to the hospital.

'Have you signed the divorce papers, Nathan?" Everleigh asked as she came out of the bathroom.

'I thought we were past this. We agreed we are not getting divorced, remember?" I said, meeting her gaze through the mirror.

'But I want a divorce. Why won't you sign the papers?" she asked, stepping in front of me, forcing me to take a step back.

'What has gotten into you this morning, Everleigh? Why are you bringing this up again?" I asked. 'You are pregnant, and we need to be together."

'Oh, really?" she tilted her head. 'Then why didn't you eat the food I cooked for you?"

'What?" I chuckled. 'Is this about the food?"

'What else would it be about?" she demanded, crossing her arms.

'Okay, here is the truth: I didn't get a chance to eat it before it spoiled. Or would you prefer I ate spoiled food?"

'You are so mean," she groaned, plopping down on the bed.

'Could you make me another meal? Even if it spoils, I will eat it this time," I teased, moving closer to her.

'Are you crazy, Nathan? Do you want to get sick?"

'I'm confused. What do you want me to do?" I whined as she folded her arms, pouting.

Dear God, please don't let this be pregnancy hormones. I don't think I can handle this.
