"I promise to make you happy. If you'll accept me after Sloane and I are through. It's surprising to me that you're the only girl who's ever made me feel this way."
"How?"
"You make my heart palpitate. That's how." he joked and we laughed. "Hahahaha, I'm serious. No one's ever had this effect on me."
"Hmmm, so you were the kind of guy who believed–"
"He could never be serious with anyone. Yup. That was me until you."
I looked at him.
"Well, that's good to know."
He smiled.
"You deserve to be happy. Josh is a jerk."
"I don't want to see him again."
"Don't worry. you won't." he hugged me. I felt better. Then we began speaking about other stuff.
After some time, Sloane returned. All pretty as usual. She hugged me and then kissed Shane.
"Shane, honey I gotta tell you something." she started.
"Yeah?"
"Um, I'll be traveling Friday night. I'm gonna spend the weekend in Dubai with some friends. Is it please possible?"
Sloane loved travelling a lot. Most of the time she wasn't around. Shane probably felt lonely at times.
"To return?" he asked.
"Monday."
He stared at her for a while. Then smiled.
"Well, okay. As you wish, Sloane." his voice came out low.
"I know you complained about me always going away often but–"
"It's alright. That was before. It's okay now."
"You sure?"
"Yeah."
"Great!" she kissed him again. Then she went upstairs.
"Um, are you sure you want her to go?" I asked.
"Sloane's stubborn. She's like me. She does what she wants. The rebellious type."
"But she asked permission."
"Just to be polite. If I'd said no, she would've still gone anyway."
"Hahahaha."
"But I think I know what's going on with her. And it makes me happy."
"What is it?"
"You'll know soon. For the moment I want you to spend the weekend with me."
My brows shot up.
"What??"
"You heard me. I'm damn serious. Spend the weekend with me. I won't go to work."
"But–"
"Please, Shayenne."
"I would have to ask Keisha first."
"Alright."

On returning to the apartment that night, I opened the door and was surprised to find Keisha caught up in a passionate kiss with a guy.
"Omg." I said with a giggle. They broke their kiss, Keisha quickly standing.
"Oh, hi sha." she greeted nervously. I laughed and closed the door behind me. She smiled.
"Care to introduce?" I teased.
"Um, this is my best friend, Shayenne." I waved at the cutie who waved back. "And Sha, this is Kevin."
"Hi, Kevin. What's up?"
"I'm fine thank you, and you?"
"I'm good. Um, Kee we need to talk."
"Okay."
She followed me to my room.
"So, what's going on?"
"First of all, I'm disappointed you didn't tell me bout a Kevin. But I'll get angry about that later. Um, Shane wants me to spend the weekend with him. Sloane's gonna be absent."
Keisha's eyes widened.
"You're serious?"
"Yeah. So, should I accept?"
"Do you want to?" she teased
"Well, yeah."
"Then go ahead honey. Take your keys with you cuz I might spend the weekend with Kevin, too.'
"Oh, I see. Hahahaha. Thanks." I hugged her.
"Have fun. No mistakes okay? You know what I mean. "
"Yeah, yeah."
"Good."

Friday reached and I gathered some stuff for Shane's place. He was going to come pick me up.
At seven PM he was at my door.
"You ready, love?" he asked.
"Yeah." I smiled.
"Good. Let me take your bag to the car. We're going to my house first. I want us to go eat something at restaurant."
"Okay, no problem. Good idea."
"Cmon."
He held my hand and grabbed my bag with his other hand. We left the apartment.

We went to a French restaurant in town. The food there was delicious. Shane and I discussed about a lot. We laughed and had fun. I seemed to be falling more and more in love with him.
Everything went on perfectly until Shane received a call.
"Excuse me while I pick the call."
"Okay." I replied.
He picked the call.
"Hello?"
"Hi honey. It's Sloane. I'm using a different number over here."
"Oh hey sweety what's up? How's Dubai?"
I could hear what she said from where I sat. It was quite loud.
"That's great, baby. I miss you already."
"Hahahaha, I miss you too."
"What are you doing?"
Shane looked at me. I swallowed.
"I'm out in a restaurant with Shayenne."
"Oh really? Greet her for me. Luckily she's there to keep you company. I'm sorry for always being away, honey."
"No, it's alright. I'm used to it."
"Okay. Just needed to say hi. Greet Shayenne for me."
"Okay."
"Bye! I love ya."
I felt guilty when she said that. I felt very uncomfortable. I stared at the floor. I was someone with a conscience after all. A strong one.
Shane stared at me, hesitating to answer Sloane. He surely felt awkward too.
"Shane??"
"Uh, yeah. I was lost."
"I said bye. And I love ya."
"I love ya too, Sloane."
She hung up. That spoiled the whole mood from then. We ate what was left of our food and left the restaurant.
In the car, I spoke:
"Shane please, I'd like to return to my apartment. "
"I thought so too, Shayenne." his answer brought some relief.
"You're still with Sloane. She loves you too and I– "
"Feel horrible?"
"Um, yeah."
"No problem. I understand, love."
"I'm happy you think same too."
He chuckled a little.
I reached my apartment at eleven PM. Keisha had gone to spend the weekend with Kevin as planned. That meant I'd be alone. It hurt but was worth it. Sloane deserved respect.
Life went on smoothly the next week. Shane and I kept it clean. No feelings exposed or naughtiness. For Sloane.
