Chapter 18

295words
Two months after Sebastian's arrest, I woke to find Oro's terrarium empty. I tore through the townhouse searching for him, but he had vanished without a trace.

That night, I dreamed Sebastian had succeeded. With a vampire's immortality, he kept me imprisoned for a thousand years.

My parents withered to dust. With no other heirs, the main Blake bloodline vanished from history, and the remaining branches scattered. I existed in endless despair until, during one of Sebastian's hibernation cycles, I saved a small silver snake.

"Consider this repayment for what I owed in my previous life," Oro said in the dream, his eyes gleaming. "Now we're even."

I woke in my childhood bedroom at the estate. My mother sat beside me, her brow furrowed with concern. "Ivy, who is this Oro you kept calling for? Who is he?"

Epilogue

Three years later.

Ethan and I had a simple, intimate wedding. The supernatural world continued its secret existence alongside humanity. Sophia led a progressive faction of vampires who joined the Supernatural Council, while Sebastian remained in the Council's prison, serving his sentence.

Our life together is wonderful. Ethan understands me completely—even when I occasionally mention a "mysterious silver snake that might have been just a dream."

One afternoon, we visited the abandoned Blake training grounds.

There, in the center of the ruins, we discovered a small silver snake.

It lifted its head, regarding me with curious eyes.

"Let's take him home," I said to Ethan.

"Of course," he agreed with a warm smile. "What will you call him?"

I knelt down and gently stroked the snake's head. "Oro. His name is Oro."

At the sound of the name, the little snake circled happily in my palm.

Ethan smiled. "Looks like he approves."

I think so too.
