Chapter 3

I had just finished putting away the lace collars and bows I'd bought for KK when I received a video conference request from Leo.

I quickly sat down at my desk, smoothed my slightly messy hair, and with a light tap, connected the video.

Leo's fresh, sunny face appeared on screen. "Aurora, let's double-check the data for that project in the south side."

"Sure." I sat up straight, making my voice sound professional and detached.

Under the desk, KK—who had been curled up sleeping soundly—twitched his ears alertly at the sound of another man's voice, then opened those beautiful blue eyes.

Oh? Another man's voice wakes you right up, does it?

I laughed inwardly, but Leo had already launched into his PowerPoint presentation, so I focused my attention on work, pretending not to notice the increasingly intense, possessive gaze from under the desk.

I completely missed the fluffy head quietly rising up, paws resting on the edge of the desk like a monarch surveying his territory.

The next second, a white blur launched onto my laptop keyboard, each key press feeling like a direct attack on Leo's face.

"Squeak——Bang!"

The screen instantly erupted into chaos.

The project presentation forcibly closed, the music player launched automatically, ear-splitting dance music filled the room, and unfamiliar software windows popped up everywhere like viruses.

I was completely dumbfounded. Jealousy to this extent—sabotaging a work meeting? Ethan, you've really outdone yourself.

"KK!" I frantically grabbed at his mischievous paws, though a hint of triumph flashed in my eyes. I scrambled to close all the windows while apologizing to Leo in a helpless yet affectionate tone.

"I'm so sorry, Leo. My pet is a bit… overexcited. Maybe he likes you too much."

On the other side of the screen, Leo looked stunned for a moment before breaking into laughter. "Aurora, your little buddy is quite energetic! Maybe he should join our next meeting?"

My cheeks burned intensely—partly from feigned embarrassment, partly from amusement at Ethan's childish behavior. I finally managed to silence the music and scoop the jealous troublemaker off the keyboard.

I had just set him down on the floor, barely catching my breath, when I heard a loud "clang."

KK's paw had elegantly swept across my desk, "accidentally" knocking over the coffee cup beside my hand.

The brown liquid splashed out, precisely soaking a freshly printed important document.

"Ah!" I exclaimed, forgetting all about Leo on the video call as I rushed to save the document, frantically dabbing at it with tissues.

Leo's voice came through the speaker, sounding understanding: "Don't worry, I can send you another electronic copy. Take care of your little situation first."

I thanked him profusely and hastily ended the chaotic meeting.

After the meeting, I surveyed the mess on my desk and the now-ruined document, unable to suppress my amusement.

I took a deep breath and turned to KK, who was sitting on the floor, staring up at me with innocent eyes.

"KK," I said, slowly crouching down to meet his gaze, "you've caused trouble again. You nearly sabotaged my work… and my professional relationship."

Hearing this, the little wolf immediately lowered his head, ears drooping pathetically. That pitiful look, combined with those moist blue eyes, was a textbook example of feigned remorse.

I wasn't actually angry to begin with, and seeing that look, my heart melted instantly.

Never mind. After all, he's my "sweetheart baby," and his jealousy was far more endearing than any work could ever be.

Seeing my expression soften, he immediately moved closer, rubbing his warm head against my calf and making low, pleading whimpers—begging for forgiveness in the most adorable way possible.

"Alright, alright," I said, rubbing his fluffy head and letting my fingertips linger behind his ears. "I won't hold it against you, but next time… maybe tone down the enthusiasm, okay?"

Taking advantage of my softened mood, he pawed at my pant leg, emitting satisfied purrs. I couldn't resist scooping him into my arms, enjoying his warmth and the affection he showed only to me.

That evening, I deliberately had a voice chat with my best friend, discussing a newly opened French restaurant.

"I heard that restaurant is perfect for dates—romantic atmosphere, candlelit dinner… do you think I should… find someone to check it out with?" As I spoke, I watched KK from the corner of my eye.

KK had been lying quietly at my feet. Upon hearing the word "date," his ears shot up like antennas. He alertly moved over and stubbornly positioned himself between me and my phone.

I smiled as I gently pushed his fluffy head aside. "Jealous, are we? Do you want to be my date instead, little guy?"

He simply covered my phone with his tail—his movements clumsy yet determined, clearly staking his claim.

The next day, I actually received a message from Leo. Talk about Murphy's Law—the more you dread something happening, the more likely it becomes reality.

"Aurora, free Friday night? There's this new French restaurant I'd love to check out with you."

I stared at the screen, my fingertips hovering over the reply box. Before I could type, a fluffy, warm body leaped onto my lap, positioning itself squarely between me and my phone—effectively blocking any connection between me and another man.

KK rolled over, exposing his soft, vulnerable belly with all four paws in the air. The tip of his tail hooked around my wrist as he let out soft, pitiful wolf cub whimpers: "Woo woo~"

He'd abandoned his last shred of dignity just to prevent me from accepting?

His combination of tactics melted my heart, but I couldn't resist teasing him further: "What do you think—should I go? After all, refusing an invitation would be rather impolite."

The little wolf immediately sat up, urgently pressing his head against my chin to block my view of the phone. Those blue eyes were filled with unmistakable possessiveness and anxiety.

I continued to add fuel to the fire: "But Leo is such a nice guy—so gentle and considerate…"

His reaction intensified. He stretched out his paw, pressing its pink pad firmly against my phone screen while letting out threatening growls—clearly warning me not to mention another man's name again.

I finally couldn't hold back my laughter. I pulled him tightly into my arms, ruffled his fur vigorously, and whispered in his ear: "Alright, alright, I won't go! Compared to anyone else… being with you is obviously more important."

I typed a quick message, politely declining Leo's invitation.

My excuse: "Sorry, I have a demanding pet at home that needs my attention in the evenings."

The Ethan-brand little wolf in my arms, where I couldn't see, smugly wagged his tail, settled into a comfortable position, and let out a contented, victorious purr from his throat.
